HKBU Alumni Association of the Greater Bay Area Organises the Launching Ceremony of the “BU Strive Talk” Season 2

HKBU Alumni Association of the Greater Bay Area (GBAAA) launched the alumni video series “BU Strive Talk” in August 2022. The alumni participating in the interviews are some of the major officials of the HKSAR Government or current members of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR. The video series aims to provide a new platform for HKBU students to learn and grow, encouraging young people to explore development opportunities in the Greater Bay Area.
“BU Strive Talk” received very positive responses, and GBAAA was thus determined to launch Season 2 of the video series which aims to showcase how some of the HKBU alumni grew with Hong Kong in the past 50 years. The launching ceremony of the video series was held at AsiaWorld-Expo on 27 November 2022.
Distinguished alumni in performing arts, culture and business industries were interviewed in this new video series. They are Professor Sunny Wong (Business Management), Chairman of HKBU Foundation Alumni Committee; Sandy Li (Communication), former Editor of South China Morning Post; Professor Harrison Ho (Economics), Managing Director of Nomura International (Hong Kong) Ltd; Cathy Hung (Communication), Vice President (Public Affairs) of Chairman’s Office of Lai Sun Development Company Limited; May Chan (Communication), Special Adviser to the Chairman of RTHK; Echo Huang (Communication), Anchor of Phoenix TV; Albert Au (Communication), programme host of RTHK and singer; Lo Bing-chung (Communication), Founder of Brothers & Sisters In Christ Foundation Limited; and Professor Peter Kwan (Communication), Associate Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of Chu Hai College of Higher Education. Alumnus Albert Wong (Communication), Honorary Chairman of AAHorses Mortgage Brokerage Services was invited as the host of the new video series.
Alumnus Dr Vincent Ho, Founding President of GBAAA, expressed in the launching ceremony his gratitude to the interviewees and the host for supporting the video series. He also announced the Association was pleased to appoint alumnus Albert Wong, the host of the video series as Honorary Advisor, and all interviewees as Senior Advisor, in appreciation of their support and contribution to GBAAA. The interviewees also shared their video shooting experiences at the Ceremony, and they all look forward to seeing the third season of the video series materialise.

Celebration for the 20th Anniversary of HKBU MBA Programme in Shenzhen

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the MBA programme in Shenzhen, HKBU School of Business and HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association Shenzhen Chapter jointly hosted a large-scale celebration on 27 November 2022. Although HKBU’s management was unable to attend the event in person because of the pandemic, Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU; and Professor Xu Huang, Associate Dean of the School of Business, sent their heartfelt congratulations through a video and via Zoom respectively.
At the event, alumnus Zhang Jianming (Business Administration), the second President of the HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association Shenzhen Chapter reviewed and summarised the past development of the Association. Alumnus Yu Yafei (Business Administration), current President of the HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association Shenzhen Chapter, also shared the upcoming plans of the Association and the continuing pledge of serving as a bridge between the alma mater and Shenzhen and Hong Kong as well as fostering the collaboration between Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
HKBU Alumni Association of Australia Organises a Dinner Gathering

On 22 November 2022, HKBU Alumni Association of Australia organised a dinner gathering at Greenwood Chinese Restaurant in North Sydney. The dinner was well attended by alumni and their family members, including President Sidney Cheng (Communication) and his spouse, Vice-President Lawrence Chan (Communication) and his spouse, Peggy Chan (Secretarial Management) and her husband Andrew Chan, Henie Chu (Communication/Secretarial Management) and her husband Eddie Chu (Communication), Richard Lam (Communication) and his spouse Mabel Lam, Joe Ng (Communication), Peter Chu (Chemistry) and his spouse, Leung Ting-chun (Civil Engineering) and his spouse Chan Bun-yee (Civil Engineering) and Hui Chun-keung (Corporate Governance and Directorship) and his spouse.
Alumni and retired/former academic and administrative staff of the University residing in Australia are welcome to join the Association and participate in the gatherings. HKBU Alumni Association of British Columbia Organises a Snake Feast

The annual snake feast is well attended by alumni in British Columbia.
HKBU Alumni Association of British Columbia organised the annual snake feast in Richmond on 11 December 2022, which was well attended by 50 alumni and their family members and friends. All participants had a wonderful time enjoying the get-together.
