HKBU Century Club Annual General Meeting 2021 cum Dinner Gathering

Alumni and guests enjoy the dinner to the full.

HKBU Century Club held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2021 cum dinner gathering at Regal Kowloon Hotel on 6 December. The dinner was graced by the presence of President Emeritus and Honorary President of the Club, Dr Daniel Tse and his spouse Mrs Kitty Tse; Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU and Honorary President of the Club; Professor Rick Wong, Interim Provost and Dr Melanie Lee, Director of Alumni Affairs; alumnus Dr Chiu Chun-bong (Business Administration) and his spouse Mrs Luna Chiu, alumnus So Wing-kin (Civil Engineering), alumnus Wong Nga-chung (Business Management), alumna Dr Marianna Tsang (Secretarial Management), Patron and Past President/Ex-officio Director of the Club, and a number of alumni and other staff members of the University.

At the AGM, alumnus Kent Tsui (Communication), President of the Club, presented the President’s report on the activities and achievements in the past year. He also expressed his gratitude to the Board of Directors, Patrons, the Honorary Auditor Patrick Wong CPA and the Alumni Affairs Office of the University for their unfailing support to the Club over the years.

After the AGM, President Wai took the opportunity to share with participants the latest updates and achievements of the University, as well as the development of the Hong Kong first Chinese Medicine Hospital. Riding on the occasion, Professor Rick Wong, Patrons of the Club and the judging panel of the Century Club Sponsorship Scheme 2021 presented the cheques respectively to the representatives of the beneficiary projects (Please click here to view the Scheme’s result). On behalf of the Club, alumnus Kent Tsui also presented the Club’s donation to the University in the form of a cheque to President Wai as a birthday gift to the University to celebrate its 65th anniversary.

HKBU Century Club Stages Anniversary Celebration and Fundraising Show Legacy of Love

Alumni perform role play to celebrate the Anniversary of HKBU.

In celebration of the 65th Anniversary of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), HKBU Century Club staged two fundraising Cantonese opera shows, Legacy of Love, respectively on 12 and 14 November at Shatin Town Hall. Both shows attracted a full house. A number of alumni also participated in the production of this show, including Stephen Shin (Biology), scriptwriter and director; Cheng Kok-kong (Communication), lyricist for the theme song and interlude; and Leung Kwong-cheong (Communication), line producer. To highlight their staunch support for HKBU, a number of enthusiastic alumni of the Club appeared on stage before each opera show to stage a short performance which included a birthday song to HKBU. The lyrics of the song are written by alumnus Cheng Kok-kong. Alumni participating in the performance included Kent Tsui (Communication), President of Century Club and Advisor of the Organising Committee of the Fundraising Show; Dr Marianna Tsang (Secretarial Management), Patron and Past President/Ex-officio Director of Century Club; Ip Ka-po (Communication), Vice-President of Century Club and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Fundraising Show; Esther Wong (Geography; Social Work), Patron and Vice-President of Century Club; Agnes Wong (Business Management), Patron and Vice-President of Century Club; William Lu (Communication), Treasurer of Century Club; Dr Helen Kwok (Communication), Secretary of Century Club, and Tyrone Siu (History), Member of Century Club. Both the celebrative pre-show performance and the opera shows were successfully held, and drew enthusiastic response from the audience.

The celebrative performance sessions were kick started by alumni Ip Ka-po and Katie Chan (Communication), member of Century Club, and hosted by alumni Dr Vincent Ho (Communication), member of Century Club, and Lam Ka Yiu (Business Administration; Communication).
