Annual General Meeting 2018 and Annual Dinner
HKBU Alumni Association (HKBUAA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2018 and Annual Dinner on 8 June at Lingnan Club, Central, which was attended by around 70 members and friends of HKBUAA.
At the AGM, President of HKBUAA, alumnus Alex Leung (Business Management) reported various activities and achievements of HKBUAA. He also thanked the Management Committee for their contributions and efforts and shared his plans about taking the HKBUAA to the next level in the coming year by enhancing the network and bonding of members. The meeting was followed by an annual dinner at the same venue.
HKBUAA was honored to have the presence of Vice-President (Teaching & Learning) Dr. Albert Chau who gave a speech at the annual dinner. Vice-President Chau expressed his gratitude towards the unfailing support of alumni.
Dr. Melanie Lee, the Director of Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) also thanked HKBUAA and alumni for their support to their alma mater. She introduced to alumni a wide array of activities coordinated / organised by AAO last year through a video, which was well received.
Every member of HBUAA had an enjoyable evening.

Mentorship Program 2018-2019 - Planning Skills for Career Development Workshop
On 26 May, HKBUAA held a “Planning Skills for Career Development Workshop” entitled "Job Search Tips: Building a Better Career" which was well attended by 75 alumni and students. This is also a kick-off event for the Mentoring Programme series in 2018 – 2019.
The workshop consists of three parts: alumni sharing by panel speakers, group discussion led by alumni facilitators and wrap-up session by alumnus Henry Fung (Communication). During the group discussion session, mentees and mentor alumni were split into small groups to share with each other the goals and strategies in career planning.
The workshop was well received by participants, in particular graduates of current academic year, who commented that the tips and advice from the alumni were valuable.

HKBU Alumnus Showcase Their Golfing Talents In the 5th Inter-University Alumni Golf Tournament
On 22 May, the 5th Inter-University Alumni Golf Competition, organized by The Chinese University of Hong Kong, was successfully held at Dongguan Phoenix Hill Golf Course. Nine teams competed in the event — from HKU, CUHK, HKBU, PolyU, EdUHK, HKUST, LingnanU, CUA (Canadian University Association of Hong Kong), Shenzhen Branch of Peking University Business School—A total of 119 players joined the event this year with the biggest team coming from HKBU with 24 players. HKBU main team was the first runner up of Net Score (NNP system) with alumnus Eric Ng (Communication) and Anson Cheung (Economics) also winning the “nearest to the pin” award individually. Congratulations to alumui Ng, Cheung & the HKBUAA alumni golf team!
This fun-filled event concluded with a lucky draw, in which HKBUAA sponsored a golf GPS range finder watch and a golf handbag as prize to celebrate the friendship with alumni from different Universities. |
