HKBU Alumni Association of Shanghai Holds its Annual General Meeting and Elected New Board Members

HKBU Alumni Association of Shanghai (HKBUSHAA) held its Annual General Meeting on 13 January. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) brought together over 80 alumni from various backgrounds and professions living and working around East China. All participating alumni enjoyed the precious moment during the reunion and embraced the achievement of 2023. During the AGM, the new Board of Directors were elected for the term 2024-26. The AGM also facilitated interactive discussions among alumni from different generations to set the goals of the next year.

Looking ahead, HKBUSHAA is committed to serving and expanding its scope of activities to engage and connect with alumni and to continue strengthening their bonding with the University.

Recent Activities of HKBU Alumni Association of Australia

Alumnus Sidney Cheng (right), currently the Life Honorary President, extends a warm welcome and his sincere congratulations to the new President alumna Peggy Chan in the handover ceremony of the HKBUAAA presidency.

HKBU Alumni Association of Australia (HKBUAAA) organised a presidential handover ceremony on 14 November 2023. The new President alumna Peggy Chan (Secretarial Management) succeeded alumnus Sidney Cheng (Communication), who stepped down after 16 years of serving the Association. Peggy pledged to further engage with alumni residing in Australia through newsletters, gatherings and events. Sports activities and joint events with other university alumni networks will also be planned to enhance alumni engagement.

On 27 December 2023, the Association caught up over seafood and drinks for a special Christmas celebration at St George Sailing Club, Sans Sauci, Sydney.  In addition, the Association held a Chinese New Year celebration gathering at Kogarah Clubhouse, Sydney on 27 February 2024, during which the alumni fully enjoyed the laughter and warm conversation as well as the plentiful dishes being served. Alumni were delighted to see old buddies and took it as a smashing start of the Year of the Dragon.

HKBUAAA invites alumni, retired/former academic and administrative staff of the University residing in Australia to join them in fostering friendship and fellowship. HKBU Alumni Association of British Columbia Holds Annual General Meeting 2024

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2024 of the HKBU Alumni Association of British Columbia was held on 9 March, with over 25 alumni and guests attending. Following the AGM, a reunion dinner took place with more friends and guests enjoying a delectable meal while engaging in joyful games and lucky draws.

HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario Holds Annual General Meeting

The dinner is graced by the presence of over 110 alumni and guests.

HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario (HKBUAAO) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) cum 2024/2025 Committee Member Election in Markham, Ontario on 26 November 2023.

A dinner was held following the AGM, successfully hosting over 110 alumni and guests including Presidents and Vice Presidents from alumni associations of the other eight Hong Kong universities. Participants spent the evening with an enjoyable dinner accompanied by singing performances and lucky draws.

The highlight of the dinner was a silent auction, which raised an impressive donation of CA$930. With the aim of helping the local community, HKBUAAO would donate the sum to the Markham Food Bank, making a contribution to the community.
