Alumnus Philip Tsai Re-Appointed Chairperson of Hong Kong Genome Institute
Alumnus Philip Tsai (Accounting), former Chairman of Deloitte China, has been re-appointed by the HKSAR Government as Chairperson of the Hong Kong Genome Institute, with his tenure ending on 26 July 2026. Congratulations to alumnus Tsai!
Alumna Professor Karen Chan Ka-yin Appointed Member of the Museum Advisory Committee and its Art Sub-committee
Alumna Professor Karen Chan Ka-yin (Business Administration), Executive Director of German Pool Group Company Limited, has recently been appointed by the HKSAR Government as member of the Museum Advisory Committee and its Art Sub-committee for a term of two years with effect from 20 October 2024. Alumnus Dr Rizwan Ullah Appointed Co-opted Member of the Science Sub-committee under the Museum Advisory Committee
Alumnus Dr Rizwan Ullah (Education – English Language for Teaching), Vice Principal (Student Development) of Hong Kong Baptist University Affiliated School Wong Kam Fai Secondary and Primary School, has recently been appointed by the HKSAR Government as Co-opted Member of the Science Sub-committee of Museum Advisory Committee for a term of two years with effect from 20 October 2024. Alumni Chung Suet-ying and Kathy Wong Kei-yiu Awarded at the 61st Golden Horse Awards
Alumni Chung Suet-ying (Communication – Journalism) and Kathy Wong Kei-yiu (Communication – Journalism) were awarded at the 61st Golden Horse Awards held on 23 November. Alumna Chung Suet-ying won the Best Leading Actress for her performance in the Movie The Way We Talk, while alumna Kathy Wong Kei-yiu won the Best Documentary Short Film for co-directing the short film Colour Ideology Sampling.mov. Congratulations to the two alumni!
In Memory of Alumnus Cheng Ming-yan
The University is deeply saddened by the passing of alumnus Cheng Ming-yan (Communication) on 3 November.
Alumnus Cheng was a veteran professional in the media industry. He was awarded the Distinguished Communication Alumni Award from the School of Communication of HKBU in 2008 in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions to the media industry.
The University community would like to convey our heartfelt condolences to alumnus Cheng’s family.
