HKBU Alumni Association – Civil Engineering Graduates Association Holds its Annual Gathering cum Dinner

On 26 October, HKBU Alumni Association – Civil Engineering Graduates Association held its Annual Gathering cum 42nd Anniversary Dinner at the Cityview Hotel. Well attended by over 50 alumni and guests, the dinner was graced by the presence of the former teachers of the Department of Civil Engineering including Ir Professor Ko Jan-ming, Ir Tsui Leung-cho, Ir Lai Kuen-wai and Ir Martin Cheung.

This event allowed alumni and former teachers to reconnect with each other and reminisce about their good old days on campus. Everyone had a joyful time catching up with each other and spent an enjoyable evening together.

Alumnus Tsui Kam-yiu, President of HKBU Alumni Association – Civil Engineering Graduates Association, is pleased to organise the annual gathering for the civil engineering alumni.

HKBU Alumni Association of Macau Celebrates the Birthday of President Emeritus Dr Daniel Tse

Dr and Mrs Daniel Tse spend a warm and enjoyable evening with the alumni from Macau.

To celebrate the 90th birthday of Dr Daniel Tse, President Emeritus, the HKBU Alumni Association of Macau held a dinner on 27 October at the Macau Military Club, graced by the presence of over 20 alumni. Dr Benita Tse and Dr Jackson Leung, the daughter and son-in-law of Dr Tse, travelled to Macau to join the celebration. During the dinner, the attending alumni took the opportunity to convey their warmest blessings to Dr Tse,  creating an evening filled with joy, touching moments, and cherished memories for Dr Tse.

Coinciding with Dr Tse’s 90th birthday, the HKBU Alumni Association of Macau launched the “Dr and Mrs Daniel Tse Scholarship”. This scholarship aims to provide financial support to HKBU students from Mainland China who have excelled academically and demonstrated a commitment to community service.

HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario Holds Annual Dinner

HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario (HKBUAAO) held its annual dinner in Casa Victoria Fine Dining and Banquet, Markham, Ontario on 3 November. The dinner was well attended by over 100 alumni and guests, including Former Council Member of HKBU Mr Yeung Po-kwan and Mrs Yeung, and representatives from alumni associations of the other eight Hong Kong higher education institutions. Alumnus Alfred Au-Yeung (Communication) , President of HKBUAAO, delivered a speech reporting the activities oraganised over the past year. He also provided an update on the recent research and teaching endeavours of alumnus Wilson Cheung (Physical Education and Recreation Management), notably focusing on activities in the Arctic. 

HKBUAAO invited Mr Dan Liu, a Chinese Canadian fashion designer, as the guest of honour to share his insights on fashion trends with the alumni. A charity auction was also held during the dinner, raising a donation of CA$1,185. With the aim of helping the local community, HKBUAAO would donate the sum to the Food Bank, contributing to the community.

HKBU Alumni Runner Supports Teams in Oxfam Trailwalker 2024

With the support and coordination of HKBU Alumni Runner, four teams formed by the alumni from the School of Business participated in the “Oxfam Trailwalker 2024”, a monumental fundraising sports event in Hong Kong held from 15 to 17 November. Participants were required to form a team of four and to complete the 100-km MacLehose trail stretching from Pak Tam Chung in Sai Kung to Harrow International School Hong Kong in Tuen Mun. The team members persevered through the physical and mental challenges, demonstrating true athletic spirit and determination, and ultimately all four teams completed the 100-km race.
