Online Inauguration Ceremony for HKBU Class Representatives 2021-2022
The Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) held an Online Inauguration Ceremony for the Class Representatives 2021-2022 on 29 March to welcome the newly appointed Class Representatives. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held online via Zoom for the first time, with around 60 Class Representatives attending.
During the event, Dr Melanie Lee, Director of Alumni Affairs delivered the opening remarks welcoming the new Class Representatives. In her speech, she extended her warm welcome to this group of outstanding students for joining the big family of Class Representatives. She also highlighted their vital role in serving as a bridge between their fellow classmates and the University. The Inauguration programme also included an introduction on the Class Representatives Scheme and an announcement of the upcoming activities of AAO. To help Class Representatives gain a better understanding of the HKBU alumni community, an interactive quiz game was held during the Inauguration Ceremony. Despite that this is an online event, students enjoyed participating in it very much and a prize was given to each of the winners in the game. A Certificate of Appointment will also be presented to each Class Representative to denote the commencement of this life-long identity.
The HKBU Class Representative Scheme was an initiative launched by the AAO in 2012 with the aim to strengthen the ties between the alumni-to-be and their alma mater. Over the years, more than 900 outstanding undergraduate students were appointed Class Representatives, who all pledged to help maintain close contact between the graduate cohort and the University.
