Two Exchange Visits on HKBU Campus

HKBU Century Club (the Club) organised an exchange campus visit for the Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises Organization (HKSMEO) on 18 June 2014. Together with the Club’s President and Patron alumna Marianna Tsang Wai-chun and Vice-President alumnus Kent Tsui Kwok-yue, the representatives of HKBU Estate Office and Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) guided the HKSMEO delegation to tour around the Baptist University Road Campus including Learning Commons, Dr. & Mrs. Hung Hin Shiu Museum of Chinese Medicine and Koon Ming Kown Exhibition Gallery.

The delegation also paid a visit to Prof. Albert S.C. Chan, HKBU President and Vice-Chancellor on 9 July 2014. With HKSMEO being one of the sponsors and promotional partners of the Junior World Entrepreneurship Forum (JWEF) Hong Kong 2014 which was co-organised by HKBU and Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong in June, the delegation shared the encouraging outcomes of the forum with Prof. Chan and presented to him a special souvenir cover printed by the Hongkong Post to commemorate the success of the JWEF Hong Kong 2014. The delegation also introduced their business mentorship and partnership projects for young people interested in starting their own business.

Raising Fund to Establish Scholarship

Over the years, the Club has spared no effort in soliciting donations from members and alumni to support the University. Apart from the annual Sponsorship Scheme which grants financial assistance to various University’s academic and research projects, the Club’s Executive Committee has recently resolved to award scholarship every year to benefit students in a direct way.

To staunchly support this new initiative, alumnus Lau Pak-shing (the Club’s Vice-President and Patron), alumnus Alfred Tang (the Club’s Treasurer and Patron) and alumnus Samuel Lau Kwok-ming (the Club’s Director) each made a generous donation of HK$10,000 to establish three scholarships for the Club in the 2014/15 academic year.

The Club is pleased to receive the donation and believes that this good cause would encourage more alumni to support and make donation to the University.
