Recent Activities of Overseas Alumni Associations
 
Alumni in Singapore Participate in Hong Kong Joint Universities Events

Initiated by HKBU alumni representative in Singapore alumna Pauline Lo (Communication), alumni residing in Singapore participated in the following two Hong Kong Joint Universities events: the Happy Hour Session at Bar Rouge Singapore on 6 September and the 2019 Mid-Autumn Festival Dinner at Pavilion Singapore @Kinex on 21 September. During the gatherings, the alumni of HKBU made friends with representatives of other universities and all participants of the events had a wonderful time together.

HKBU Alumni Association of Australia -    
Annual General Meeting cum Dinner Gathering

HKBU Alumni Association of Australia organised its Annual General Meeting cum Dinner Gathering on 31 August 2019 at The Eight Modern Chinese Restaurant, Sydney, which was attended by alumni, their family members and friends including President alumnus Sidney Cheng (Communication) and his spouse, Vice-President alumnus Lawrence Chan (Communication) and his spouse, alumni Clara Cheng (Social Work), Augustus Ho (Physics), Eddie Chu (Communication) and his spouse Henie Chu (Communication/ Secretarial Management), Richard Lam (Communication) and his spouse Mabel Lam, Leung Ting-chun (Civil Engineering) and his spouse Chan Bun-yee (Civil Engineering); as well as participants Edward Fung and his spouse, and Bosco Lau. First time participants alumni Yip Kan-shing (Social Work) and his spouse Lee Mee-oi, Peggy Siu (Secretarial Management) and her spouse Andrew Chan were warmly received by the Association.

At its Annual General Meeting, the new Executive Committee of the Association was elected:

President: Sidney Cheng (Communication)
Vice-Presidents: Lawrence Chan (Communication)
Secretary: Peggy Siu (Secretarial Management)
Treasurer: Clara Cheng (Social Work)
Committee Members: Augustus Ho (Physics), Peter Chu (Chemistry) and Henie Chu (Communication/ Secretarial Management)

Meeting with Prof. Sophia Chan, Secretary for Food and Health of HKSAR

The Secretary for Food and Health of HKSAR, Professor Sophia Chan, led a delegation to visit Melbourne and Sydney, Australia in September, and organised a Community Reception on 18 September to meet with Hong Kong people and healthcare professionals resident in Melbourne and Sydney. The President of HKBU Alumni Association of Australia Sidney Cheng and Vice-President Lawrence Chan were invited to the Reception.

All alumni resident in Australia, retired and former academic and administrative staff of the University who are living in Australia are welcome to join the Association as well as the events and gatherings organised by the Association. For those who are interested in joining the Association’s chat group to get the latest information about the Association or joining their events and gatherings, please contact alumnus Sidney Cheng at (61) 415 561 321 or alumnus Lawrence Chan at (61) 410 628 062.
