HKBU Century Club organised a press conference for its fundraising screening of “Our Town” on HKBU campus on 19 September. Attending guests included Director alumnus Cheung Che-kwok (Communication), actors Louisa So, alumnus Yeung Ying-wai (Chinese Language & Literature) and Gary Tam, Honorary Chairman of the Organising Committee alumnus Dr. Justin Chiu (Doctor of Social Sciences, honoris causa; Sociology), Member of Century Club and Chairman of the Organising Committee alumnus Ip Ka-po (Communication), Patron and Vice-President of Century Club and Executive Chairman of the Organising Committee Esther Wong (Geography), President of Century Club and Advisor of the Organising Committee alumnus Kent Tsui (Communication), Associate Vice-President (Engagement) Mr. CK Yeung, and Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee.
Dr. Justin Chiu said that the fundraising screening would include a special sharing session, in which HKBU students of Dr. Chung King-fai (King Sir) would share their interesting stories about acting in the drama “Our Town” directed by King Sir. Moreover, a number of HKBU alumni will appear in one of the scenes in the drama for the purpose of fundraising.
The globally acclaimed drama “Our Town”, which was brought to the Hong Kong drama arena by King Sir, has a special meaning to HKBU. The drama was played in 1965 and 1975 to raise funds for the then Hong Kong Baptist College. Under the directorship of King Sir, the first three leading actors of the drama, namely Fredric Mao (English Language & Literature), Cheung Che-kwok (Communication) and Lam Sheung-mo (Communication) are all alumni of HKBU. Hence, in celebration of the 80th birthday of King Sir, HKBU Century Club organises a fundraising screening of drama “Our Town” on 12 November to pay tribute to him. All proceeds, after deducting necessary expenses, will be used to support the development of HKBU. For details about ticketing, please click here. |
