HKBU Master of Chinese Medicine Class of 2008 Holds 10th Anniversary Celebration Dinner

A dinner was held to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of HKBU Master of Chinese Medicine Class of 2008. The event was graced by the presence of President Prof. Roland Chin, Associate Vice-President (Chinese Medicine Development) Prof. Bian Zhaoxiang, Dean of Chinese Medicine Prof Lyu Aiping and over 10 teachers from the School, where the latest development of the School and the University were shared. Alumni had a great time at the dinner, interacting and taking photos with each other.

Alumnus Dr. Richard Yee Presents at the 2018 China Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) Outsourcing Summit

Alumnus Dr. Richard Yee (Doctor of Business Administration), Chief Information Officer of HSBC Bank (China), gave a presentation at the 2018 China BFSI Outsourcing Summit themed “Technology Innovation and BFSI Service” which was held in Hefei during 13-15 September. The summit was well attended by representatives of government departments, local and international financial institutions, local and overseas universities, business associations, technology companies, etc.
Alumnus Dr. Richard Yee shares the importance of digital transformation to traditional financial institutes.
 
 
Alumnus Jonathan Choi Pledges to Establish Endowed Scholarship for Department of History

Alumnus Dr. Jonathan Choi (History) recently committed to make a donation of HK$250,000 for the establishment of two endowed scholarships for the Department of History in celebration of its 40th anniversary. These scholarships are set up to support students for undertaking study trips to the Mainland and Taiwan. In addition, he further sponsored $10,000 for the celebration activities of the Department.

Alumna Esther Wong Supports the 40th Anniversary Celebration of History Department

Alumna Esther Wong (Geography/Social Work) has committed to further sponsor $10,000 for the celebration activities of the 40th Anniversary of Department of History. This is, on top of the donation she has made earlier, for the establishment of an endowed scholarship for the Department. The Head of Department of History Prof. Clara Ho and Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee recently had a gathering with alumna Wong to celebrate her birthday and her being awarded the Certificate of Commendation in 2017 by the Secretary for Home Affairs in recognition of her dedicated service and outstanding contribution to the promotion of community building and building management.

Alumnus Prof. William Leung is Awarded Professional Leader Legacy Award 2018

Alumnus Prof. William Leung (Honorary University Fellow; English Language & Literature) has been awarded Professional Leader Legacy Award 2018 by Legacy Academy. Congratulations to Alumnus Prof. Leung!

Alumnus Simon Ho from United States Visits HKBU to Show Support

Alumnus Simon Ho (Chinese Language and Literature), an overseas alumnus who resides in New York, returned to his alma mater on 24 October to meet with Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee and made a donation to support alumni development.

Alumnus Steve Hui Organises a Lunch Gathering with Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee

On 24 October, alumnus Steve Hui (Biology) organised a lunch gathering with the presence of alumna Hilda Ho (Communication), alumnus Gip Chan (Music), Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee and colleagues from Alumni Affairs Office at the Hong Kong Police Senior Officers' Mess. They had a wonderful time where the University’s recent development and good old days on campus were shared.

Alumni Have a Dinner Gathering with HKBU Student-athletes

26 HKBU student-athletes participated in the recent Asian Games and Asian Para Games in Indonesia and captured 4 Gold medals, 5 Silver medals and 4 Bronze medals. Organised by the Department of Sport & Physical Education (SPE), a dinner was held on 26 October to acknowledge the outstanding alumni and student-athletes and celebrate their distinguished achievement.

The dinner was sponsored by alumnus Wong Nga-chung, and was well attended by Chief Executive of Hong Kong Sports Institute Dr. Trisha Leahy, President Prof. Roland Chin and Mrs. Zina Chin, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Dr. Albert Chau, Associate Vice-President (Engagement) Mr. C.K. Yeung, Head of SPE Prof. Chow Bik-chu, Associate Head of SPE Prof. Cheung Siu-yin, Professor of SPE Prof. Chung Pak-Kwong, Associate Professor of SPE Dr. Lobo Louie, alumni Sunny Wong, Alex Leung and Kent Tsui, as well as alumni and students from SPE.

Alumni in Northern California Hold Their First-Time Lunch Get-together

9 alumni residing in Northern California, America held their first-ever gathering at Tins Teapot Bistro in Hayward on 29 October 2018. Participating alumni included Tony Dong (Business Management), Mabel Dong (Music), Amos Lee (Sociology), Ruth Wong (Business Management), Patrick Wong (Business Management), Angie Wong (History), Billy Leung (Chinese Language & Literature), Patrick Leung (Mathematics) and Aldrich Lau (Chemistry).

It was a fruitful gathering at which alumni shared their fond memories of school days. Through this alumni group, they planned to have more festive gatherings in future and strengthen the connection and relationship among alumni and the University.
