HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario Participates in Table Tennis Competition Organized by Hong Kong Joint Universities Alumni (Ontario)

HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario (HKBUAAO) participated in the table tennis competition organized by the Hong Kong Joint Universities Alumni (Ontario) on 14 October.

The results achieved by the representatives of HKBUAAO are fantastic. They won five awards in the competition, including champion and 2nd runner-up in men’s singles; champion (jointly with the team of the University of Hong Kong) and 2nd runner-up (jointly with the team of Hong Kong Shue Yan University) in mixed doubles; and champion (jointly with teams of the University of Hong Kong, Chu Hai College of Higher Education and Hong Kong Shue Yan University) in Hong Kong Cup.

The competition provided a good opportunity for players to promote friendship and communication among alumni in Ontario.

Alumni of HKBU Rowing Club Alumni Association Shines in the 5th Hong Kong Rowing Coastal Championships and The 13th World Firefighters Games Chungju 2018

Members of the HKBU Rowing Club Alumni Association got good results at the 5th Hong Kong Rowing Coastal Championships held on 20 October 2018 in Middle Island. This is also the Ranking Race of the 2018 Asian Rowing Coastal Championships (ARCC) which will be held in Hong Kong in November. The top few crews will be qualified to enter the ARCC directly.

Alumnus Yuen Yun-lam (Environmental Conservation Studies), Lin Cheuk-ngai (Computer Science) and Wong Sheung-yee (Sport and Recreation Studies) (coxswain) won the champion in Men’s Open 4X+, while alumnus Lo Ting-wai (Sport & Recreation Leadership) got the 1st runner- up. Alumna Ng Nga-yi (Sport and Recreation Studies) won the 2nd runner-up in Women’s Open 2X. Wish them all the best for good results at ARCC!

Moreover, alumnus Lam San-tik (English Language and Literature), represented Hong Kong Fire Services Department, won the 1st runner-up in the Open 1000m indoor rowing event at The 13th World Firefighters Games Chungju 2018. The event is an international festival which promotes friendship of firefighters from all over the world through various sports competitions. Congratulations to alumnus Lam!

HKBU Alumni Association – Civil Engineering Graduates Association Holds its AGM cum Annual Gala 2018

The HKBUAA - Civil Engineering Graduates Association held its Annual General Meeting cum Annual Gala on 26 October 2018 at the Cityview Hotel. The event was attended by 60 alumni, academic staff and friends.

The dinner was graced by the presence of the former lecturers of the Civil Engineering Department Ir. Prof. Ko Jan-ming, Ir. Prof. Mok Kwok-woo, Ir. Siu Kong-lam and Ir. Martin Cheung. The annual gala reunion provided alumni with an opportunity to reconnect and reminisce about their good old days on campus. All guests had an enjoyable time.
