Over 200 participants comprising alumni, staff and students from six generations of Department of Social Work attended “HKBU 60th Anniversary – Social Work Alumni Reunion Dinner” on 28 October. The dinner was co-organised by Social Work Alumni Association, Social Work Learning and Exchange Foundation Fund, Department of Social Work, Social Work Society and Alumni Affairs Office.
As one of the earliest established academic departments, Department of Social Work grew together with HKBU in the past 60 years.
The dinner was graced with the presence of President Prof. Roland Chin; Vice-President (Teaching & Learning) Dr. Albert Chau; Associate Vice-President Prof. Frank Fu; Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Adrian Bailey; Former Head of Department of Social Work Rev. Chu Leung Kei; Former Head of Department of Social Work Prof. Sammy Chiu; Head of Department of Social Work Prof. Petrus Ng; President of HKBU Social Work Alumni Association Mr. Stephen Yau; President of Social Work Learning and Exchange Foundation Fund Prof. Chan Kai-fong; Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee; University Fellow Prof. Gary Craig; Ms. Gill Martin; and Internal Secretary of Social Work Society Miss Mandy Lau.
After making his welcoming remarks, President Chin led the cake-cutting and toasting ceremony with HKBU senior management and guests. Dr. Chau also shared his plan to improve Service Learning opportunities for students and called for the support of alumni to be an integral part of this meaningful project.
