Homecoming Day 2014 Breaks Record and Shows Energy

Record-breaking numbers of alumni and friends gathered on HKBU campus to participate in Homecoming Day 2014 themed “Show Your Energy, Buddies” on 25 October 2014. Dressed in cosy sportswear and casual wear, participants enjoyed the great moments at various events including Green Campus Tour, Over-the-Rainbow Alumni Tea Reception, Alumni Investiture Ceremony and Energising and Magical Poon Choi Dinner.

The fun day started with the Green Campus Tour whereby 45 alumni and friends visited the green facilities on campus, made environmental friendly photo frames and toured around the Dr. and Mrs. Hung Hin Shiu Museum of Chinese Medicine.

At the Over-the-Rainbow Alumni Tea Reception, senior management of the University welcomed alumni back by presenting the 7 attributes of graduates by means of painting on the flower pots and had a great time sharing with them over colourful and healthy food and drinks.

264 alumni who graduated in 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984 and 1989 received medals from President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Albert S. C. Chan at the Alumni Investiture Ceremony, an excellent tradition at HKBU, that recognised alumni’s contribution to society and family over the years. The medals were particularly special to alumni of 1964 who celebrated their 50th Anniversary of Graduation, which was kicked-off at the Welcome Luncheon hosted by the University’s senior management at Shiu Pong Hall on 24 October 2014.

The Day was concluded with the Energising and Magical Poon Choi Dinner at 3/F Podium of Academic and Administration Building whereby 45 tables were set. Over 500 alumni, academic and administrative staff and university management appreciated lion dance and magic performance while enjoying the sizzling poon choi dinner. The dinner ended in the finale singing of a song that signifies hope and friendship.

Last but not the least, the HKBU Alumni Soccer Seven which was sponsored by Hong Kong Baptist University Alumni Association and being an integral part of Homecoming Day 2014 was also successfully held at Joint Sports Centre on 11 October 2014. With a record-breaking of 17 teams participating in the Open and Advanced Category, the Soccer Match was filled with lots of fun, energy and sportsmanship.
