HKBU School of Business Alumni Association - Gateway to Big 4 Seminar and Mock Interview

HKBU School of Business Alumni Association (SBAA) organised a seminar and mock interview on “Gateway to Big 4” on 29 September 2013 and 27 October 2013 respectively.The seminar attracted some 300 students. Eight experienced alumni who are currently working at Big 4 accounting firms shared with the participants some winning tips on application procedures, aptitude tests and interviewing techniques. In addition, over 15 alumni from Big 4 accounting firms were invited to conduct a mock interview session for more than 60 students who have been shortlisted for interviews. Constructive comments on performance of participants were given so as to help them enhance their interviewing skills.

Seminar on Economics of Investment in Chinese Arts

The seminar on “Economics of Investment in Chinese Arts" organised by HKBU Economics Alumni Association and School of Business Alumni Association was successfully held on 28 September 2013. Speaker Mr. Francis Li, a famous antiquarian and Programme Director of Savantas Liberal Arts Academy shared with participants the investment value and prospect of Chinese antiquity. In addition, Mr. Li showcased to the participants the artifacts of the Song Dynasty including Longquan Celadon.

Career Sharing Session 2013 by HKBU Chinese Medicine (Full Time) Alumni Association

The HKBU Chinese Medicine (Full Time) Alumni Association (CMEDAA) organised a career sharing session on 7 Sep 2013 to give the 11th graduating students of Chinese Medicine a better understanding of career prospects. Alumni speakers and current Chinese medicine practitioners including Mr. Kenny Chan, Mr. Chan Sing-leung, Mr. Sze Ka-keung, Ms. Novella Lau Chi-ling, Ms. Grace Leung Koon-chuen and Mr. Lam Chun-pong were invited to share their work experiences in the arena of Chinese medicine.

HKBU Century Club Co-hosts 2013 LongXi NOVA (Hong Kong) Competition

The LongXi NOVA (Hong Kong) Competition jointly organised by HKBU Century Club, HKBU School of Business and the Founders of LongXi was successfully staged at HKBU Padma and Hari Harilela Lecture Theatre on 3-5 August 2013.

Launched in 2007, LongXi NOVA is an annual competition in the Greater China region that gives new comers of the advertising industry a platform to showcase their creativity. The Competition spans three days and consists of two rounds. Participating teams were initially required to present an advertising proposal based on a given topic. Eight out of the 17 teams advanced to the finals during which they presented their projects to a panel of judges.

In Memory of Alumnus Rev. Cheung Chi-kong

The University extended deepest sympathy to the family of alumnus Rev. Cheung Chi-kong, David (Sociology 1960) who passed away on 17 September 2013. To commemorate his great contributions in the education sector over the years, alumni Ng Kin-sum and Chan Chung-hay have written a Chinese poem “The Spring of Education”.
