Recent Activities of Alumni Associations
 
HKBU Alumni Association of Australia Organises a Luncheon in Celebration of the 65th Anniversary of HKBU

On 24 March, HKBU Alumni Association of Australia organised a luncheon in celebration of the 65th Anniversary of HKBU at Zilver Restaurant in Haymarket, Sydney. The function was honored by the presence of Mr. Henry Mak, Deputy Director of The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Sydney (HKETO). The luncheon was well attended by alumni President Sidney Cheng, Vice-President Lawrence Chan, Clara Cheng, Peggy Siu and her spouse Andrew Chan, Prof. Edward Fung and his spouse, Eddie Chu and his spouse Henie Chu, Keith Chau and Joe Ng, as well as family members of alumni. Representatives of Australia alumni associations of other universities from Hong Kong, including Mrs. Cathy Lam and Ms. Linda Tang, President and Former President of the Hong Kong University Alumni Association NSW Chapter Australia; Mr. Owen Wong, Mr. Steve Lam and Mr. Gary Or, Vice-President, Former President and Honorary Auditor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Alumni Association Australia; Mr. Joseph Yu and Mr. Bosco Lau, President and Honorary President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Australia Association), also attended the gathering to offer their congratulations.

This luncheon had been the first activity attended by the four Australia alumni associations of universities from Hong Kong since the outbreak of the pandemic. At the gathering, President Sidney Cheng warmly welcomed all guests and thanked them for sparing time to attend the function. Mr. Henry Mak shared with the audience the latest development and future plan of HKETO and sent his heartfelt congratulations to HKBU. He also pledged to maintain a close bonding with the Australia alumni associations of various higher institutions from Hong Kong.

In order to help the guests plan ahead for retirement, HKBU Alumni Association of Australia also invited Mr. Ivan Wong, General Manager of Home Ageing Services of CASS Care, to share with guests information on elderly welfare, rights and interests in Australia.

Alumni and retired/former academic and administrative staff of the University residing in Australia are welcome to join the Association and participate in its events and gatherings. The Committee of HKBU Alumni Theatre Organises Lunch Gathering

The Committee of HKBU Alumni Theatre had a lunch gathering in Tsim Sha Tsui on 23 March. The lunch was hosted by alumnus Kent Tsui (Communication), Founder and Chairman of the Alumni Theatre. At the lunch gathering, Committee members took the opportunity to record a short video conveying their birthday blessings to Dr. Chung King-fai, Honorary Chief Advisor of the Alumni Theatre, whose birthday fell on the same day.
