HKBU Symphony Orchestra Holds Annual Gala Concert
Sponsored by Chief Group Limited and FY Compliance Consulting Limited, the Symphony Orchestra Annual Gala Concert was held on 23 April at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. The Symphony Orchestra was conducted by Prof. Johnny Poon, Head of Department of Music, and the concert featured a debut Hong Kong performance from top American pianist Mr. Andrew von Oeyen. With special lighting effects used on stage for the first time, all members of the audience were able to enjoy a wonderful evening with fabulous music and lighting. The concert was well attended by over 1,200 guests including HKBU senior management, alumni, staff and students of the University. |

Dr. Albert Chau and Alumnus Sunny Wong Share at the CASE Asia-Pacific Advancement Conference
On 10 April, Dr. Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) and alumnus Sunny Wong (Business Management), Chairman of the Alumni Committee of HKBU Foundation, shared at the CASE Asia-Pacific Advancement Conference held in Brisbane on “Engaging Alumni with a Purpose.” The sharing was moderated by Dr. Melanie Lee, Director of Alumni Affairs, who served as Chairperson of Alumni Relations Track at the Conference. Some inspiring videos which demonstrated HKBU alumni contributions were also shown at the event. |

Alumni Gather to Celebrate Dr. Chung King-fai’s Birthday
On 23 March, students and friends of Dr. Chung King-fai, former teacher of HKBU, held a birthday celebration dinner for him. A group of HKBU alumni joined the Dinner together and sent their warmest blessings to Dr. Chung in person. At the Dinner, they recalled the happy moments of attending Dr. Chung’s classes in the old days. |

Alumnus Prof. William Leung Appointed as Chief Executive and Executive Director of WeLab Virtual Bank
Alumnus Prof. William Leung (English Language & Literature) was appointed as the Chief Executive and Executive Director of WeLab virtual bank, the first homegrown Hong Kong fintech company to establish a virtual bank. Prof. Leung has extensive experience in the finance and banking sector. He has served Hang Seng Bank as Executive Director and Head of Personal Banking as well as Sun Hung Kai Financial Limited as Chief Executive Officer. Congratulations to alumnus Prof. Leung! |
