Recent Activities of Alumni Associations

Fund Pitching Event “Pitch Perfect”

The Event was jointly organised by the School of Business, School of Business Alumni Association (SBAA), the Knowledge Transfer Office and Rouge Ventures on 19 March which was well attended by over 100 participants. This was the second time the event was held in which selected pitching teams pitched their investment plans in front of an international panel of investors so as to obtain funding, acquire recognition and receive professional advice. It was a good opportunity for investors and business practitioners to mingle with each other and share industry news.

Annual General Meeting 2015

SBAA held its Annual General Meeting in HKBU Shaw Campus on 23 April. The following members of Executive Committee were elected for the term 2015-2016:

HKBU Economics Alumni Association and Student Union Economics Society co-organised the Seminar on Stress Management

The seminar was held at Shaw Campus on 25 April. It was well-attended by over 30 students and alumni.

Dr. Cindy Chan, a Registered Clinical Psychologist of the Division of Clinical Psychology of Hong Kong Psychological Society was invited as speaker to introduce the issues of students’ stress and suicide and how students could cope with it and lead a positive life.

Science Alumni Share Career Experiences in Banking Professions

In partnership with Baptist Chemists, Alumni Association of Department of Mathematics, and Department of Computer Science Alumni Association, the Faculty of Science organised an alumni sharing session themed “Career in Banking: Options and Opportunities” at Ho Sin Hang Campus on 19 March. It was well-attended by over 80 students, alumni and staff.

Three Science alumni, including Risk Manager of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Chan Fu Ho (Mathematics);Assistant Branch Manager of HSBC Derak Chu (Chemistry); and Head of Information Technology Department of Wing Hang Bank (China) Alan So (Computer Science), who are experts in operational risk management, sales and marketing and information technology in the banking industry shared their experiences on landing a career in different banking professions. It was followed by a question-and-answer session chaired by Associate Programme Director (MSc) of Department of Mathematics Dr. Andy Yau.
