BBQ Gathering with President Roland Chin

Members of HKBU Alumni Association of Department of Mathematics and HKBU Department of Computer Science Alumni Association dine with President Roland Chin On 20 April, the Alumni Affairs Office joined hands with HKBU Alumni Association of the Department of Mathematics and HKBU Department of Computer Science Alumni Association for a BBQ dinner at Shiu Pong Hall, the residence of President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Roland Chin. The gathering was well-attended by representatives from the Faculty of Science and alumni associations including Associate Vice-President and Vice-Chairman of Steering Committee on Alumni Relations in the Faculty of Science Prof. Ricky Wong, Associate Dean Dr. Daniel Kwong, Head and Associate Head of the Department of Computer Science Prof. Yuen Pong-chi and Prof. Xu Jian-liang, Head and Associate Head of the Department of Mathematics Prof. Michael Ng and Dr. Leevan Ling, President of HKBU Department of Computer Science Alumni Association alumnus Allen Kan and President of HKBU Alumni Association of Department of Mathematics Dr. Daricks Chan, as well as their members and class representatives. At the dinner, President Chin stressed that alumni connection within various business and professional sectors in Hong Kong and overseas could form a strong network which is invaluable to student development. Prof. Ricky Wong also shared the latest alumni development of the Faculty. Alumni and class representatives treasured the opportunity to exchange views and thoughts with President Chin. BBQ Gathering hosted by President Roland Chin with members of Social Work Alumni Association On 5 May, the Alumni Affairs Office joined hands with the Department of Social Work and Social Work Alumni Association (SOWKAA) to organise a BBQ Gathering at Shiu Pong Hall, the residence of President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Roland Chin. The dinner gathering was well-attended by over 40 alumni, students and staff. Participants included Associate Vice-President Prof. Frank Fu, Dean of Social Science Prof. Adrian Bailey, Head of Department of Social Work Prof. Petrus Ng, Associate Head Dr. Hung Suet Lin, Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee, and President of SOWKAA Mr. Stephen Yau. In his welcome remarks, President Chin stated that Social Work serves as the conscience of society and plays an important role in social progress. He hopes that SOWKAA would continue the spirit of mentoring. He also encouraged SOWK alumni to take the lead in cultivating a culture of helping and giving back to the community. Prof. Petrus Ng briefed alumni on the latest development of the Department, followed by a sharing of Mr. Stephen Yau on SOWKAA’s recent achievement. Riding on the occasion, participants celebrated the 80th birthday of the former Head of SOWK Rev. Lawrence Chu. Alumni enjoyed themselves at the gathering where they chatted with old buddies and shared their reminiscences. The gathering ended with joy and laughter. Please click here for photo album.
