Due to the spread of COVID-19, the supply of face masks remains very much in great demand. During this difficult time, the newly established HKBU Alumni Association of the Greater Bay Area (GBAAA) chose to continue serving fellow alumni and spreading love to HKBU and society.
According to Founding President of GBAAA alumnus Dr Vincent Ho (Communication), Vice-President alumna Elise Tse (Accountancy) managed to procure, of her own accord, nearly 400,000 pieces of face masks in two weeks. The masks were then distributed to both Hong Kong and Mainland alumni who had approached her in quest of masks. The procurement process was by no means easy and President Ho took an extra step to sponsor Elise’s air ticket to Indonesia to deal with the vendor. Some quantity of the purchased lot was subsequently bought by Honorary Advisor of GBAAA Mr Sze Kyran for delivery to the elderly who live alone in Hong Kong. Honorary Advisor alumnus Wong Nga-chung (Business Management; Honorary University Fellow), with the support and participation of the University's Officers, also made it possible for HKBU to purchase some from the lot. The remaining masks were bought by Honorary Advisor alumnus Ip Ka-po (Communication) for charity purpose.
Through such selfless act of kindness, President Ho wishes to promote love and care towards family and friends. |
