In response to the spread of the novel coronavirus, the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) of the University has distributed free HKBU Chinese Medicine Influenza Prevention Remedy to the elderly and the needy communities including patients with chronic illnesses, and families receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance since mid-February this year. This endeavor is initially funded by the Lions and Hong Kong Baptist University Chinese Medicine Charity Foundation as well as The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. It has subsequently drawn support from various donors and alumni supporters. Amongst them, a senior Civil Engineering alumnus has generously donated HK$100,000 in support of this good cause initiated by SCM. With their generous support, over 17,000 herbal medicine packs were distributed, benefiting over 11,000 people / families in total as of early March. The University would like to express our gratitude to all donors and alumni supporters for their staunch support.
Besides, the Jockey Club Chinese Medicine Disease Prevention and Health Management Centre has launched an online service to provide the latest health and Chinese medicine information for the general public. From now until 31 August, the general public can submit their questions on various health issues to SCM experts through the “Doctor’s mailbox” online platform. Please click here to view more details of the “Doctor’s mailbox”. |
