Science Alumni Get-Together to Welcome the Year of the Pig
On 23 February, nearly 140 alumni, senior management, staff, students and friends of Faculty of Science gathered at Madam Kwok Chung Bo Fun Sports and Cultural Centre of HKBU campus to welcome and celebrate the Year of the Pig.
The gathering was graced by the presence of guests of honor Professor Ng Ching-fai, former President and former Dean of Science of HKBU; the Honorable Charles Peter Mok, Legislative Councillor (Information Technology), Legislative Council of HKSAR Government; Professor Tong Chong-sze, Vice President (Administration and Development) of The Open University of Hong Kong and former Associate Dean of Science; Dr. Daniel Kwong, former Associate Dean of Science; Professor Ko Jan-ming, former Head of the Faculty’s Department of Civil Engineering; Mr. Alan Wong, Chairman of Advisory Committee of the Faculty of Science; Mr. Leung Ka-wing, Chairman of Steering Committee on Alumni Relations of the Faculty of Science; and Mr. Alex Leung, President of HKBU Alumni Association. Senior management of the University including Vice-President (Research and Development) Professor Rick Wong; Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Dr. Albert Chau; Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) cum Academic Registrar Professor Ricky Wong; and Associate Vice-President (Engagement) Mr. C K Yeung also attended to share the joy with the alumni and guests.
Vice-President (Research & Development) and former Dean of Science Prof. Rick Wong expressed in his speech that he was happy to meet with so many alumni and touched by their ardent support to the alma mater. Professor Zhang Jianhua, Dean of Science, also took the opportunity to share the recent development of the Faculty and invite alumni to render support to various projects, especially the pilot schemes of internship and mentorship initiated this year.
A group of Science alumni and friends showing their musical talents in a live band performance was the highlight of the programme and added much fun to the gathering.

Business Alumni Gather for a Pre-CNY Celebration
Jointly organised by HKBU School of Business and the School of Business Alumni Association (SBAA), the Alumni Night was held on 23 January to reunite alumni and friends and pre-celebrate Chinese New Year. The event was well attended by over 140 alumni, students and guests, and it was graced by the presence of Vice-President (Teaching & Learning) Dr. Albert Chau, Associate Vice-President (Engagement) Mr. C. K. Yeung, Dean of School of Business Prof. Edward Snape, Associate Dean Prof. Gerard Prendergast, Associate Dean Prof. Huang Xu, Chairman of SBAA alumnus Bernard Wu, Chairman alumnus Franklin Fong and President alumna Ivy Ku.
Prof. Snape welcomed all guests on behalf of the University and he was pleased to see many alumni again. He also shared the recent development of the School with the attending guests. Looking ahead, the School will build on the success in the past and continue to provide world-class business education to students.

Lunch Gathering held by HKBU Northern California Alumni Network
Alumni residing in Northern California, USA has formed the HKBU Northern California Alumni Network recently and held a lunch gathering at Saigon Seafood Harbor Restaurant in Sunnyvale, California on 11 February. Participating alumni included Ada Au (Sociology), Tony Dong (Business Management), Mabel Dong (Music), Maria Kwan (Chinese Language & Literature), Aldrich Lau (Chemistry), Billy Leung (Chinese Language & Literature), Patrick Leung (Mathematics), Diana Ma (Music), Albert Poon (Sociology), Patrick Wong (Business Management), Pak Yan (Sociology) and Ming Yan (Sociology).
It was a joyful gathering in which alumni planned to expand the Network and unite more and more alumni residing in Northern California.

HKBU Chinese Medicine (Full Time) Alumni Association Organises a Seminar on Chinese Medicine Hospital Establishment
On 13 January, HKBU Chinese Medicine (Full Time) Alumni Association, The University of Hong Kong Bachelor of Chinese Medicine (Full-time) Alumni Association, the Chinese Medicine Alumni Association of CUHK, Union of Frontline Chinese Medicine Practitioners (Hong Kong) and Sin-Hua Herbalists' & Herb Dealers' Promotion Society jointly organised a seminar on how to establish a high quality Chinese Medicine hospital in Hong Kong from the perspective of Chinese Medicine practitioners. The seminar was held on HKBU campus and well attended by over 150 participants.
At the seminar, Project Director of Chinese Medicine Hospital Project Office Dr. Cheung Wai-lun, President of HKBU Chinese Medicine (Full Time) Alumni Association alumnus Lam Chun-pong and representatives from various organisations including Dr. Lee Kai-ping, Dr. Ng Chi-sun, Mr. Chan Man-hon and Dr. Lam Wing-ho shared their opinions and views on the topic. They also took the opportunity to exchange views with attendants at the Q&A session. |

Lunch Gathering Held by Alumni in Singapore
Initiated by alumni representative in Singapore alumna Pauline Lo (Communication), a lunch gathering with alumni residing in Singapore was held at Canton Paradise on 23 February. Apart from Pauline, alumni Eric Chan (Communication), Alex Leung (Sociology), Agnes Chan (Secretarial Management) and Julie Tan (Chinese Language & Literature) also attended. They all had nice chats over the lunch and recalled fond memories of their life at HKBU.
