Workshop: “‘Football as a common language’ - Meeting refugees through sport”

In this workshop organised by HKBU’s Department of Humanities and Creative Writing, HKBU alumni and students are invited to meet Hong Kong's first refugee club, "All Black FC", and will experience first-hand how sports can facilitate interaction and debunk prejudices. Football can be used as an ice-breaker that offers unique opportunities for community building among otherwise segregated groups in society. The casual training of the workshop will be guided by a professional coach of the Chelsea Soccer School. After getting to know the refugees on the football pitch, the refugees will share their experience in Hong Kong and how they stay connected with their own cultural roots through sports, dance and music.

Date: 25 March 2017 (Saturday)
Time: 14:30-16:00
Venue: HKBU Grass Soccer Pitch, Joint Sports Centre, Shaw Campus, Kowloon Tong

Please wear comfortable sports wear and sneakers. No football skills required! For RSVP & enquires, please email to tobias.zuser@gmail.com or contact 6462 0767.
