HKBU Century Club Celebrates Year of the Horse Spring Dinner
HKBU Century Club held its “Year of the Horse Spring Dinner” on 24 February 2014 at Regal Kowloon Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, which provided a good opportunity for alumni and guests to get together and share joy of the Chinese New Year.
The Club was honoured to have the presence of President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Albert S.C. Chan, Associate Vice-President Prof. Frank Fu, the Club’s Patrons and eminent members of the society at the event. In his remarks, President Chan shared the recent development of HKBU and thanked the Club for its unfailing effort in fundraising and members’staunch support to their alma mater over the years. At the occasion, the Club’s Patrons presented cheques of “HKBU Century Club Scholarship” to students of School of Communication.
The dinner was served with special sponsored delicacies including Spanish Iberico ham and truffle, South African dried abalone with goose feet and other delicacies. Guests also supported the charity bazaar which aimed at raising funds for the University. As a token of appreciation, the Club presented bookmarks printed with President Chan's poem as souvenirs to all guests. Chinese music and Tai Chi fan dance were also performed to enhance the festive ambience.
President of the Club alumna Marianna Tsang remarked in her speech that the dinner could not have been successful without the support of the organising committee, donors and alumni for charity bazaar items and food sponsors including Gourmet Orient Limited, Bon Bon Paradise and Albani Tartufi. A total of HK$15,000 was raised for the University through this Spring Dinner.
