Fun-filled Year of the Snake Spring Dinner

The Club held its “Year of the Snake Spring Dinner” on 23 February 2013 at Regal Kowloon Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, which provided a good opportunity for alumni and guests to raise fund for the University and share joy of the Chinese New Year.

The Club was honoured to have the presence of President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Albert S C Chan and Associate Vice-President Prof. Frank Fu at the event. In his remarks, President Chan shared the recent development of HKBU and thanked the Club for its effort in fund-raising and endeavours made to fight for the use of former Lee Wai Lee site.

The dinner was served with special appetisers, South African dried abalone and other delicious food and wines. The guests also enjoyed purchasing silk scarf and branded handbags on-the-spot. As a token of appreciation, the Club presented to every guest special souvenirs including book marks printed with President Chan’s poems, abalone sauce and stylish phone cases. Two students of Department of Music were also invited to perform Chinese music during the dinner.

Alumna Marianna Tsang, President of the Club, acknowledged in her speech that the dinner could not have been successful without the support of food and prize sponsors including Gourmet Orient Limited, Bon Bon Paradise, Art of Nature International Company and Homberto Arts & Lifestyle Limited. The event raised over HK$20,000 for the University.

Special Donations from Members

The Club puts donations from members directly into HKBU Century Club Fund to support University’s projects and development. However, resources are needed for the Club’s operation such as organising dinners. In view of this, Patron alumnus Wong Nga-chung has made another generous donation of HK$35,000 to the Club.

Recently, the Club has sponsored HK$100,000 for the placement of a University’s statement in 4 local newspapers about fighting for the use of former Lee Wai Lee site and called for members’ support in making special donation. Apart from allocating a portion from Century Club Fund, alumna Marianna Tsang, Patron and President of the Club, endeavored to invite the following alumni to support the move:
