Lunar Reunion Dinner of Hong Kong Baptist University Alumni Association of Australia

Organized by Hong Kong Baptist University Alumni Association of Australia, a Lunar Reunion Dinner attended by a group of alumni including Sidney Cheng Chun-lit, Chan Wing-yu, Eddie Chu Kwok-on and his wife Tsang Yuet Ying, Ho Kwok-lung, Chu Hon-tin, Cheng Yuen-tung and Chan Yuk-ling and more was held at Kam Fook Restaurant in Chatswood of Sydney on 20 January 2012.

The Association’s President, alumnus Sidney Cheng presented the welcome remarks at the dinner and gave special thanks to attending alumni and Vice-President Chan Wing-yu for the venue arrangements. Filled with the joy of reunion, the alumni shared their updated development and New Year blessings with one another, further strengthening the close ties among themselves.

Despite residing in Australia, the alumni always have the Chinese traditional festivals in their hearts, especially the lunar reunion which traditionally celebrates the yearlong hard-work, and good harvest of farmers in the form of dramas that pray for blessings in the coming years.

The Association also organized another dinner gathering at Modern Chinese Restaurant (Chinatown) of Sydney on 10 March 2012 to celebrate the 56th Anniversary of HKBU. Riding on this occasion, the Association sent its appreciation to alumni for supporting the University over the years.

Alumni who are interested in joining future activities of the Association are welcome to contact Sidney Cheng (Tel: (02) 9745 2590 / 0415 561 321; email: chunlitcheng@hotmail.com) or Chan Wing-yu (Tel: 0410 628 062).

HKBU School of Business Alumni Association Holds First Sharing Forum

Established in November 2011, HKBU School of Business Alumni Association (SBAA) aims to build an exchange platform for alumni and students.  In collaboration with the School of Business and Alumni Affairs Office, SBAA held the first sharing forum on February 7. With more than fifty students and alumni attending, the event was a success.

Alumnus Daniel Ying from the Department of Economics and alumna Meisze Leung from the Department of Accounting were the keynote speakers. Being an expert in human resources management, Deniel spoke on the characteristics of employees in different decades.  He also encouraged students to pay more attention to the expectations of employers, and to grasp every learning opportunity.  Meisze shared her story about adapting to a new working environment. She believed that a positive and proactive working attitude accounted for every excellent performance.

Alumni Associations Gets Together for Charity

Thirty alumni from HKBU Alumni Association, HKBU School of Business Alumni Association, Corporate Governance and Directorship (HKBU) Society and HKBU MBA Alumni Association joined the Walk for Millions (New Territories) held on February 19, 2012 (Sunday).

This activity was the first event that the four alumni associations jointly organised.  Besides helping the Community Chest to raise fund for social welfare agencies which provide family and child Welfare services, the get-together allowed interaction and connection amongst the alumni associations, laying a foundation for the associations to organise more activities in the future.
