Inauguration Ceremony of the New Executive Committee of HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association Shenzhen Chapter

On 5 May, HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association Shenzhen Chapter held a ceremony to mark the commencement of its reconstituted Executive Committee. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Huang Xu, Associate Dean of the School of Business of HKBU, and were attended in person by: Immediate Past President of the Association alumnus Chen Dongyan (Business Administration) and other members of the former Executive Committee, newly elected President Mr. Yu Yafei (Business Administration student) and other members of the new Executive Committee. Nearly a hundred alumni, who are members of the Shenzhen Chapter, also joined the event online.

On behalf of the School of Business, Prof. Huang Xu delivered a speech to encourage members of the Association to pioneer and innovate with the aim of building a stronger alumni network in Shenzhen. President Yu Yafei, in his commencement speech, said that the newly elected Executive Committee would steadfastly follow the tradition of the Association while upholding the University’s motto "Faith and Perseverance". Looking ahead, he pledged to work together with other Executive Committee members to lead the Association to scale new heights.

Videos of congratulatory messages were shown at the ceremony, featuring Mr. Huang Duanquan, President of the Peking University HSBC Business School EMBA Student Union; alumnus Dr. Vincent Ho (Communication), Founding President of the HKBU Alumni Association of the Greater Bay Area and alumnus Vinson Ye (Business Administration), leader of the HKBU Alumni Runner and his Desert Challenge’s team members. At the end of the ceremony, Certificates of Appointment were presented to each newly appointed Executive Committee member to mark the commencement of their service.

HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario Organises Reading Club and Fitness Exercise Training Sessions

In view of COVID-19’s impact on the social life of all individuals, HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario launched the online Reading Club and Fitness Exercise Training Sessions for its members, with the aim of strengthening both their physical and mental health during the pandemic.

Having received an encouraging response, the Reading Club started its introductory ZOOM session on 1 May, during which participants got to know each other and were briefed on how the Reading Club sessions would be run. The first session was held on 24 May and in the upcoming 10 months, one session will be held on the last Saturday of each month. Participants of the Reading Club have been advised to read the chosen book and then share and discuss their comments and feelings on the book in the sessions.

The Fitness Exercise Training Session, on the other hand, was premiered via ZOOM on 8 May. A total of 6 sessions will be organised for members and their friends and relatives. A professional personal trainer is invited by the Association to coach the participants on the basic fitness exercise and share with them small tips on maintaining physical health, so as to help them stay strong and agile during the pandemic.

HKBU Rowing Club Alumni Association Shines in the Shing Mun Rowing Challenge I

HKBU Rowing Club Alumni Association participated in the “Shing Mun Rowing Challenge I” on 25 April at Shing Mun River, Sha Tin. Alumni Kwok Kin-ting (Sport & Recreation Leadership) and Lin Cheuk-ngai (Computer Science) respectively won the championship in the Final 1 and Final 2 of the Men's Masters 1x event. Congratulations to alumni Kwok and Lin!
