Mr. Chan Koonchung Shares His Thoughts on Living out the Contradictions of Our Time at HKBU SEED Talk

Mr. Chan Koonchung, an influential sinophone writer, spoke at an online SEED Talk entitled “Living Out the Contradictions of Our Time” on 5 June. During the talk, Mr. Chan boldly revealed the unavoidable contradictions one would encounter in life. Harbouring the belief that young people can shape our times, Mr. Chan encouraged the young generation to uphold faith in life and pursue learning with passion. They should equip themselves with knowledge and skills in order to think big and search for a more meaningful life.

The SEED Talk attracted 500 registrants and had the honour to have Prof. Eva Man, Chair Professor in Humanities and Director of Academy of Film of HKBU to be the moderator. At the talk, Mr. Chan engaged in meaningful dialogues with Kathy Ng, Humanities Year 4 student, Martin Law, Creative and Professional Writing Year 4 student, and alumnus Rondo Mak (Communication), and also took questions from the audience. The talk can be viewed here.

Foreseeing the challenges the graduating cohort will encounter during the current economic downturn, HKBU recently launched Project SEED to help students get better prepared for employment and unleash their career potential by engaging the support of BU community leaders. The online SEED Talk was one of the Project SEED initiatives. By engaging community leaders and inspirational professionals with rich knowledge from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, the Talk series aim to instil in both HKBU students and young alumni a positive attitude towards life, improve their competency in job-hunting, and provide them with a broad scope of outlook as they chart their path for a fulfilling and rewarding life.
