HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association Hosts the 26th MBA South China Alliance Conference

Organised by MBA South China Alliance, the 26th MBA South China Alliance Conference was held on 25 May at HKBU, with nearly 200 MBA alumni, students, teachers and guests from South China attended. This time, the Conference was hosted by HKBU School of Business and HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association in which Chairman of the Association alumnus Zhao Yongshuang was appointed as Rotating Chairman of the MBA South China Alliance who took the lead to organise the event.

The Conference was kick-started by a welcome remarks from Dean of Business Prof. Edward Snape. Prof. Snape welcomed all guests on behalf of the University and shared the latest development of the School with the attending guests. Alumnus Zhao Yongshuang also delivered a speech and handed over the flag of MBA South China Alliance to the next Rotating Chairman, Mr. Shi Peng, Chairman of the MBA Federation of the South China University of Technology.

One of the highlights of the day was the campus tour in which the attending guests were guided to visit HKBU History Gallery, Dr. & Mrs. Hung Hin Shiu Museum of Chinese Medicine, Koo Ming Kown Exhibition Gallery, etc. Guests were able to learn more about the history and development of HKBU through the tour.

The finale of the event was a welcome dinner on campus. Everyone enjoyed the dinner and treasured the opportunity to meet old and new buddies. All of them looked forward to meeting again in the next Conference to be held in the second half of this year.

MBA Alumni Celebrates its Brilliant Result at the Asia-Pacific Business School Desert Challenge

A team comprising students and alumni from the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme clinched two prestigious honours at the 8th Asia-Pacific Business School Desert Challenge, a three-day 70 km-challenge held in the Tengger Desert in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from 27 to 30 April. The MBA team received the Sand Gull Award, which was the highest group honour in the competition, and the overall championship prize in the women’s group. The team held a celebration dinner on 18 May to celebrate its outstanding achievement.

HKBU MScBM Alumni Association Organises a Private Seminar on AI Investment Advisor and Passive Investment

On 29 April, Hong Kong Baptist University MScBM Alumni Association (MScBMAA) organised a private seminar entitled “AI Investment Advisor and Passive Investment”, which was attended by over 30 alumni, students and guests. The Association invited Ms. Yan Nan, Associate Director of Wealth Management Group of Magnum Research Limited, and Mr. Feng Ke, Founding Partner of Yvonne Capital as well as Member of Tsinghua University MBA Entrance Examination Materials judging panel as the speakers of the seminar.

At the seminar, Ms. Yan shared the design concept, market application and investment return of AI Investment Advisor as well as the quantitative methods for investment with the use of AI, while Mr. Feng gave his insights on the passive investment opportunities at the time of US-China trade war. The event also served as a platform for alumni and students to come together and stay in touch.

HKBU Alumni Association of British Columbia Holds Annual General Meeting and Dinner Gathering

On 9 March 2019, HKBU Alumni Association of British Columbia held an Annual General Meeting and Dinner Gathering at Red Star Seafood Restaurant in Richmond, Canada. The gathering was attended by around 50 HKBU alumni and guests who are alumni of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and City University of Hong Kong. Also, the Association was honored to have the presence of Catherine Yuen, Principal Consultant (Western Canada) of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Canada, to share the joy at the gathering.

The Association will hold BBQ gathering at 4:15 pm on 18 August (Sunday) at Riverfront Park at Vancouver. All HKBU alumni, their visitors, friends and families are welcome to join. Interested parties please send an email to hkbuaabc@yahoo.ca.

Alumni Association of Department of Chinese Language and Literature Holds Annual General Meeting

Alumni Association of Department of Chinese Language and Literature held its Annual General Meeting on 13 April, in which the following members of the Executive Committee were elected for the term 2019-2021:

The Association shared their latest updates with Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee. The Association will continue to organise various activities to connect with alumni.

HKBU Alumni Association of Physical Education Department Postgraduate Studies Holds Annual General Meeting

HKBU Alumni Association of Physical Education Department Postgraduate Studies held its Annual General Meeting on 17 April. It was attended by President alumna June Lo and Executive Committee members alumni Carman Leung, Lam Chi-kei, Lorraine Ng, Dickson Tsui, Maverick Leung, Rosanna Cheung, Edmond Yiu, and Maxine Ho. The association thanked the support of their Honorary President, Prof. Chow Pik-chu, Honorary Advisors, Prof. Cheung Siu-yin and Dr. Hong Sungil, and teacher, Dr. Wendy Huang. After the meeting, the attending committee members had a dinner gathering to catch up with each other.
Executive committee members have an enjoyable dinner after the AGM.
 
 
HKBU Physical Education and Recreation Management Alumni Association Organises Career Sharing Session

On 8 May, HKBU Physical Education and Recreation Management Alumni Association (HKBU PERMAA) organised a career sharing session for the graduating PERM students. The workshop was well attended by around 30 students and alumni.

Guest speakers shared their industrial experiences with participants and gave practical tips on career planning. The workshop was well received by participants, who expressed that the advice from the guest speakers were helpful in their career development.
