Alumnus Dr. Eddie Ho Appointed As The Chairman Of The Board of Hong Kong Baptist Hospital

Alumnus Dr. Eddie Ho Kang-Wai (Sociology) was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Hong Kong Baptist Hospital with effect from 8 May 2018 to 30 April 2019. Congratulations to Alumnus Ho!

Alumnus Dr. Eddie Chui Shiu-hon Appointed As The Council Member of the Third Board of Specialty Committee of Digestive System Disease of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies

The Fifth Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient Alumnus Dr. Eddie Chui Shiu-hon (Chemistry/Chinese Medicine) was appointed as the Council Member of the Third Board of Specialty Committee of Digestive System Disease of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, with effect from March 2018 to March 2023. Congratulations to Alumnus Chui!

Alumnus Simon Ho from United States Visits HKBU

Alumnus Simon Ho (Chinese Language and Literature) from New York returned to his alma mater on 7 May for a short visit. Accompanied by alumni Prof. James Tsien (Business Management) and Wong Nga-chung (Honorary University Fellow; Business Management), he visited Faculty of Science and Faculty of Arts and met Chair Professor of the Department of Physics Professor Cheah Kok-wai, Assistant Professors of Department of Chinese Language and Literature Dr. Oliver Chan and Dr. Chung Ching-hong. Alumnus Ho then had a lunch get-together with Associate Vice-President (Engagement) Mr. CK Yeung and Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee, where the University’s recent development and good old days on campus were shared.

Thanks to Alumnus Ho’s ardent support, he has agreed be the key contact person in future to connect HKBU alumni residing in the east coast of United States with their alma mater.

Alumnus Dr. Aldrich Lau Visits HKBU

On 23 May, alumnus Dr. Aldrich Lau (Chemistry) from San Francisco paid a visit to his alma mater accompanied by his son. They visited Faculty of Science, toured around the campus and also had a great time chatting with alumnus Dr. Kenny Wong (Chemistry). Dr. Lau also shared his vision of consolidating HKBU alumni residing in Bay Area of the United States.

Dr. Melanie Lee met with Alumni Stephen Tang (Business Management) and Wong Nga-Chung (Honorary University Fellow; Business Management) over dinner on 10 May 2018 and exchanged views on fundraising strategies.

Alumna Nancy Li Conducts in ‘Symphony of Love’ Charity Concert 2018

On 5 May, Alumna Nancy Li (Music) conducted in the ‘Symphony of Love’ Charity Concert 2018, organized by Lions Club of Castle Peak, Hong Kong (Lions Clubs International District 303 Hong Kong & Macao, China). The concent was successfully held at the Academic Community Hall, Hong Kong Baptist University.

Alumna Li and other performers dazzled the audience with their passion and unity of music-making which enhanced the audience’s understanding of intergenerational harmony and their interest in orchestral music. Through their beautiful performance, they have brought enlightenment to society as well as enriched the audiences' understanding of intergenerational harmony and their interest in orchestral music by moving and captivating them with their music!
