Annual General Meeting 2017 and Annual Dinner

HKBU Alumni Association (HKBUAA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2017 and Annual Dinner on 26 May at Fu Sing Seafood Restaurant, which was attended by around 120 members and friends of the Association. The monthly happy hour gathering was also held at the same venue prior to the AGM.

During the AGM, alumnus Alex Leung (Business Management) was elected as the new President of the Association for a term of three years. The Directors and Executive Members of Management Committee for the term 2017-2018 were also confirmed. The meeting was followed by an annual dinner at the same venue and HKBUAA was honoured to have the presence of HKBU President Prof. Roland Chin and two former Presidents, Dr. Daniel Tse and Prof. Ng Ching-fai.

Alumnus Leung gave a note of thanks to all guests and shared his mission in enhancing the social network and bonding of members. He also expressed his gratitude towards alumnus Dr. Jacinto Tong (Economics) for sponsoring the annual dinner and giving his collection of books to the guests. President Chin also took the opportunity to share the vision and strategic plan of HKBU in the coming years, and thanked the alumni for their continued support to the alma mater.

Planning Skills for Career Development Workshop

On 3 June, HKBUAA held a “Planning Skills for Career Development Workshop” at Wing Lung Bank Building. This workshop, which is one of the workshop series under the Mentoring Programme, was attended by over 35 alumni and students.

During the workshop, mentees and mentor alumni were split into small groups to share with each other the goals and strategies in career planning. A highlight of the workshop was the sharing of success stories and experience from alumni who have participated in this Mentoring Programme in the past.

The workshop received positive feedback from the participants, in particular the graduates of current academic year, who commented that the tips and advice from the alumni were very useful.
