Recent Activities of HKBU Alumni Association of Australia

HKBU Alumni Association of Australia organised a lunch gathering on 6 May 2019 at Quanjude Sydney, which was attended by President of the Association alumnus Sidney Cheng, Vice-President alumnus Lawrence Chan, alumni Peter Chu, Henie Tsang, Leung Ting-chun and his spouse Chan Bun-yee, Mr. Edward Fung and his spouse, Bosco Lau and their families. Treasurer of the Association alumnus Joseph Lau, who has already moved to Adelaide, paid a visit to Sydney and took the opportunity to meet with the buddies at the gathering.

The Association also held a dinner gathering on 13 June 2019 at The Dragon Boat Restaurant in Darling Harbour, Sydney, at which alumni Sidney Cheng and his spouse, Lawrence Chan, Clara Cheng, Eddie Chu and his spouse Henie Tsang, Richard Lam and his spouse Mabel Lam, Leung Ting-chun and his spouse Chan Bun-yee, Bosco Lau and his spouse attended to enjoy the dinner and the music light show "Vivid Sydney" together.

HKBU Alumni Association of Australia would like to invite alumni, retired and former academic and administrative staff of the University, who are now residing in Australia to join the Association. Alumni in Singapore and HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario Extend Hospitality to HKBU Interns

On 3 June, a group of alumni residing in Singapore held a dinner gathering with 15 summer interns who joined the Metropolitan Attachment Programme (MAP) of HKBU to work in various organisations in Singapore. At the dinner, the alumni shared their wisdom and experience with their younger fellows. The mixed generations of alumni and students from HKBU spent a wonderful evening together.

Another group of 22 summer interns from HKBU joined the MAP in Canada and attended a dinner gathering organised by HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario on 26 June. 15 alumni in Toronto joined to mingle with the students and share their experience in Toronto and Hong Kong. The Association has warmly prepared a welcome pack for the students, which includes a Toronto City Map, a Public Transit Guide, a Welcome to Canada Handbook, a luggage tag and a pin with Canada flag.

Dinner Gathering Held by HKBU Northern California Alumni Network

The newly formed HKBU Northern California Alumni Network held a dinner gathering at Saigon Seafood Harbor Restaurant in Sunnyvale, California on 29 June, with over 20 alumni and their friends and family members attended. A karaoke gathering was also held prior to the dinner to add fun. The alumni also planned to have more reunions in future such that the “Spirit of BU and Lion Rock” can be rekindled.

HKBU School of Business Alumni Association Supports the “Embracing 5G for the Future” Summit

The “Embracing 5G for the Future” Summit was held on 28 May at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, which attracted hundreds of attendees from the political, commercial and education sectors. HKBU School of Business Alumni Association (SBAA) was one of the supporting organisations of this summit with more than 20 alumni and friends attended the event.

Experts and scholars from the Mainland and Hong Kong were invited as keynote speakers to share how 5G technology leads application and terminal innovation, transforms the way we live and builds smart cities. The speakers also explored “5G opportunities for SMEs” through an interactive session. The summit enabled attendees to understand more about the 5G industry and benefit from the insightful sharing of the speakers.

HKBU MBA Alumni Association Organises a Happy Hour Gathering for Father’s Day

On 18 June, HKBU MBA Alumni Association (MBAAA) organised a Happy Hour gathering to celebrate Father’s Day. Attending members had a nice chat with each other and discussed current issues in Hong Kong.

 

 

 

Alumni Association of Department of Chinese Language and Literature Visits to Tsz Shan Monastery

Alumni Association of Department of Chinese Language and Literature organised a visit to Tsz Shan Monastery on 22 May. With the introduction and guidance of alumnus Lee Joi-tong Patrick and his spouse Chea Sum-mui as well as the monastery tour guide, 32 alumni graduated in different years had vegetarian lunch, explored the majestic monastery and Buddhist Art Museum together. They enjoyed a spiritual experience at the monastery and were able to learn more about the architectural concept of the monastery and Buddhist Art in China.

HKBU Department of Computer Science Alumni Association Organises Basketball Competition

HKBU Department of Computer Science Alumni Association organised “Alumni Basketball Competition” at Dr. Stephen Hui Sports Hall on 21 Juneto foster interactions and strengthen relationships with the computer science alumni community. All alumni players enjoyed the match and treasured the reunion moment.
