Alumni Gather to Bid Farewell to Chemistry Prof. Albert Lee

Organised by Baptist Chemists, the farewell dinner held on 23 June was well attended by more than 140 Chemistry alumni, staff and students who gathered to bid farewell to Prof. Albert Lee Wai-ming, Chair Professor of Chemistry.

The dinner was graced by the presence of Vice-President (Research & Development) Prof. Rick Wong, former Dean of Science Dr. John Chan, former Heads of Chemistry Department Prof. Chan Wing-hong, Prof. Ricky Wong and Prof. Raymond Wong, Associate Head Dr. Shiu Kwok-keung, former faculty members Dr. Margaret Wong and Dr. Lai Suk-yin, Distinguished Alumni Award recipient Dr. Eddie Chui (Chemistry/Chinese Medicine), Honourable Advisor of Baptist Chemists alumna Mok Sin-hing and alumnus Prof. Jimmy Yu.

At the dinner, Prof. Lee shared his treasured moments over the past 36 years at the Department and the University. As a token of appreciation of Prof. Lee’s contributions to the Department and support to Baptist Chemists since its inception 25 years ago, Chairman of Baptist Chemists alumnus Ronald Wong presented a gift to Prof. Lee.

HKBU Rowing Club Alumni Association - Alumnus Yuen Yun-lam represents Hong Kong Rowing Team and wins a gold medal in the Ratzeburg International Regatta in Germany

Alumnus Yuen Yun-lam (Environmental Conservation Studies) is selected as one of the representatives of the Hong Kong Rowing Team and has started a two-month European training with the Hong Kong Asian Games Squad. He joined the Ratzeburg International Regatta competition tour in Germany on 3 June. Alumnus Yuen and his teammates won the gold medal in the men’s lightweight eight and the first runner up in the men’s lightweight four.

HKBU China Studies Alumni Association - Guangxi Visit of "China Studies School of Hope"

A group of 21 alumni and students visited "China Studies School of Hope" in Hezhou, Guangxi and participated in a service learning trip from 31 March to 4 April organized by the HKBU China Studies Alumni Association. To enrich the learning experience of rural children, the Association has arranged a variety of activities in various disciplines such as arts, sciences and physical education for the children. The participants also visited some impoverished families.

The Association has set up a scholarship to support the development of continuous education for rural children in the Mainland.
