Recent Activities of Various Local and Overseas HKBU Alumni Associations

Dinner Gathering with Alumni Association of Physical Education Department Post-graduate Studies & Physical Education and Recreation Management Alumni Association

More than 30 members from Alumni Association of Physical Education Department Post-graduate Studies, HKBU (AAPEG) & HKBU Physical Education and Recreation Management Alumni Association (PERMAA) and class representatives of PERM participated in a BBQ dinner gathering on 31 May 2013 at Shiu Pong Hall with the presence of President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Albert S.C. Chan, Associate Vice-President Prof. Frank Fu, Head of Department of Physical Education Prof. Chung Pak-kwong, Associate Head of Department of Physical Education Prof. Patrick Lau and Director of Alumni Affairs Ms. Melanie Lee.

Prof. Albert S.C. Chan thanked the alumni of Physical Education for their support to their alma mater and welcomed them to share their valuable views to the University.

The participants had a great time catching up with one another at the gathering.

HKBU MBA Alumni Association Co-organises “Housing Forum”

The “Housing Forum” organised by Junior Chamber International Hong Kong and co-organised by 20 youth bodies including HKBU MBA Alumni Association was held on 23 May 2013. Around 600 representatives from youth bodies participated in the forum. Mr. C.Y. Leung, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, was also invited to join the forum and shared with participants the Government’s tactics to tackle the housing problem.

HKBU School of Business Alumni Association Organises Visits to Tencent Holdings Limited and Hong Kong/Shenzhen Co-operation on Modern Service Industries in Qianhai Area

HKBU School of Business and the School of Business Alumni Association jointly organised a visit to Tencent Holdings Limited (Tencent) and Hong Kong/Shenzhen Co-operation on Modern Service Industries in Qianhai Area (Qianhai) on 17 May 2013. Over 40 alumni and students joined the events. Representatives of Tencent conducted a company tour for the participants whereby they took the opportunity to understand the development of internet and information technology in the Mainland China. On the other hand, during the visit to Qianhai, the participants got to know more about the overall development of the area and the business opportunities to come.

HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario Invited as Judging Panel for the “Hong Kong Cup - Slogan and Calligraphy Contest”

Organised by Association of Chinese Arts & Literary Contest for Youth and sponsored by Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Canada), “The 13th Hong Kong Cup - Slogan and Calligraphy Contest” invited representatives from seven alumni associations of Hong Kong higher education institutions to form a judging panel. On behalf of HKBU Alumni Association of Ontario, alumnus Lee Kun-tin joined the judging panel to select the winners. The selection process was vigorous and lasted for 6 hours.

Themed “Impression, connection and creativity”, the contest aimed at letting young contestants express their feelings about Hong Kong through the slogan creation and calligraphy.
