Recent Activities of Alumni Associations

HKBU School of Business Alumni Association Holds Annual General Meeting 2020 HKBU School of Business Alumni Association (SBAA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 19 December 2020. The following members of the Executive Committee were elected for the term 2020 - 2021: President: Mr. Marcus Yuen Chairmen: Prof. Bernard Wu Mr. Franklin Fong Ms. Ivy Ku Vice-Presidents: Mr. Stephen Yung Mr. Reason See Vice-President & Honorary Secretary: Mr. Gordon Chin Honorary Treasurer & Executive Committee Member: Mr. William Lu Executive Committee Members: Ms. Chloe Chen Mr. Jacky Xu Ms. Joanna Kwok Mr. Miles Chu Ms. Alberta Sie Mr. Daniel Wu Mr. Allan Leung Mr. William Kong Mr. Edwin Tam Ms. Eva Wu Mr. Angus Chow Mr. Paco Chan Mr. Kelvin Yau The AGM was graced by the presence of President Prof. Roland Chin, who joined the meeting online. President Chin expressed his appreciation for the contributions made by SBAA to the University over the past years and encouraged SBAA to continue these kind deeds in the years to come. Alumni attending the AGM expressed their gratitude to President Chin for his support to the Association. They also took the opportunity to send their blessings to him and wished him a happy retirement. At the AGM, alumnus Marcus Yuen was elected new President of SBAA. Speaking as new President, Marcus expressed his gratefulness to Chairmen alumni Prof. Bernard Wu, Franklin Fong and Ivy Ku for their past efforts in laying down a solid foundation for the Association. Looking ahead, he pledged to work closely with the Executive Committee members in the organisation of various events for HKBU alumni and students, and do his utmost to lead the Association to scale new heights. HKBU Alumni Association of Shanghai Holds Annual Meeting 2020 HKBU Alumni Association of Shanghai (SHAA) held its Annual Meeting on 27 December 2020. The meeting was organised in the format of a high table dinner, during which SHAA President Mr. Gilman Too gave an annual report of the Association, including its latest update. Two prominent business leaders Mr. Dickson Szeto, Chairman & CEO of Urban Revitalization Force, and Mr. Kenny Wong, Founding Partner & Managing Director Shanghai of WE Marketing Group, were invited to the dinner to give a talk on the insights into their respective business fields. Dinner participants were not only able to enjoy the fine dinner but could also take the opportunity to grasp the latest market situations. HKBU Economics Alumni Association Holds Annual General Meeting 2020 The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of HKBU Economics Alumni Association held on 18 December 2020 was attended by, among other members, Chairman alumnus Matthew Tse, Vice-Chairman alumnus Dr. Ignatius So, Honorary Secretary alumna Alberta Sie, Membership Officer alumnus Michael Ho and Auditor alumnus Jacob Yeung. At the AGM, Chairman Matthew Tse reviewed the development of the Association in the past year. Although some events planned for the year had been cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic, members of the Executive Committee pledged to continue strengthening the alumni network in the coming year. Baptist Chemists Hold the Annual Golf Day On 26 November 2020, Baptist Chemists organised the 8th Baptist Chemist Golf Day at the Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course. A total of 20 alumni and their friends participated in the event and they all enjoyed the fun day to the full. Baptist Chemists connect together and play golf among their acquaintances.

HKBU Rowing Club Alumni Association – 12th Inter-Universities Alumni Invitation Regatta The 12th Inter-Universities Alumni Invitation Regatta, one of the remarkable annual rowing events for alumni of local universities, was successfully held at Shing Mun River, Shatin on 29 November 2020. Organised by HKBU Rowing Club Alumni Association (HKBURCAA), and co-organised by PolyU Alumni Rowing Club, the event attracted more than 240 alumni from all universities in Hong Kong, including 80 alumni from HKBU who took part in the competition. Despite the pandemic, HKBURCAA alumni and all other rowers overcame all the challenges and took every precautionary health measure while competing in the event. Overall, this annual competition was well received by the rowers. A big congratulation to the HKBURCAA and all other organisers on their success in running the event!    Having graduated for more than 10 years, members of the HKBU Alumni Team (Men) show their support for HKBU Rowing Club Alumni Association by joining the competition.     Cosplay Race is one of the most popular competitions of the event.
