HKBU Alumni Association of Shanghai Holds Anniversary Luncheon

HKBU Alumni Association of Shanghai (SHAA) held its Anniversary Luncheon on 1 December 2019 in Shanghai, which was graced by the presence of Chairman of Alumni Committee of HKBU Foundation alumnus Sunny Wong (Business Management), President of HKBU Alumni Association alumnus Alex Leung (Business Management), the Immediate Past President of HKBU Alumni Association alumnus Tyrone Siu (History), Vice-President of HKBU School of Business Alumni Association alumnus Marcus Yuen (Applied Accounting & Finance), and Executive Committee member of HKBU School of Business Alumni Association Ms. Eva Wu. All of the distinguished guests made a special trip to Shanghai to honour the event.

Under the theme “Back to Childhood”, around 100 alumni gathered together at the Luncheon and played various interactive games. They were all impressed by a surprise congratulatory video from HKBU President Prof. Roland Chin. During the event, three senior alumni residing in Shanghai, namely Henry Ng (Sociology), Victor Chan (Business Administration) and Avis Woo (Communication), shared their success stories with the participants.

At the Luncheon, alumni Gilman Too (Communication) and Li Zhi (UIC-Accounting; Green Technology) were elected the new President and Vice-President of SHAA respectively. The two shared their future plans for the association and thanked the Founding President alumnus Yee Lam (Communication) for his contributions to SHAA in the past years.

Hong Kong Baptist University Alumni Association of the Greater Bay Area (GBAAA) Do a Sharing with Communication Students

Committee Members of GBAAA visited HKBU Institute for Research and Continuing Education (IRACE) in Shenzhen on 17 November and 7 December 2019. During the visits, they held meetings with the first-year and second-year Communication School postgraduates of HKBU and shared with them the Association’s 10-year plan, which aims to align with the development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The two main visions of the Association, namely to “Connect” and “Innovate” were also introduced.

The Communication School postgraduates were all eager to learn more about the aforementioned plan of the Association. They suggested that a WeChat group be set up to include all Communication School postgraduates and Committee members of GBAAA for further exchange of ideas. The meetings also discussed how to strengthen the impact of HKBU Communication School on the mainland.

GBAAA Organises the Fourth Gathering under the “Connect” Series

On 7 December 2019, GBAAA organised the fourth seminar under the “Connect” series and invited alumni who run technology startups to interact with the Head of Knowledge Transfer Office of HKBU, Dr. Alfred Tan, China Media Leader of Hong Kong and PwC China, Ms. Cecilia Yau and her colleague Mr. Jensen Wang to explore ways to make good use of the Association as a platform to support HKBU alumni who wish to start their business in the Greater Bay Area. The companies of the participating alumni were at the forefront of the artificial intelligence field, including A.I. Phoenix Technology Company Limited, Prevision Technology Limited, Heyou, and Jing Xu (Shenzhen) Biotechnology Company Limited.

The Corporate Governance and Directorship (HKBU) Society Holds Annual General Meeting 2019

On 30 December 2019, the Corporate Governance and Directorship (HKBU) Society held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Head Office of the Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth at Wang Tau Hom Estate.
