Alumnus Felix Chong Directed Film “Project Gutenberg” Receives 17 Nominations at Hong Kong Film Awards

Written and directed by alumnus Felix Chong (Communication – Film/Video), one of the 6th Distinguished Alumni Award recipients, “Project Gutenberg” has received 17 nominations at the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards – a record for most nominations in recent years – including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, etc. Congratulations to alumnus Chong!

Alumna Chan Siu-kuen Directed Film “Still Human” Wins Three Awards at Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards and Receives Eight Nominations at Hong Kong Film Awards

Written and directed by alumna Chan Siu-kuen (Film, Television & Digital Media), “Still Human” won three awards at the 25th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards, including the Best Screenplay, Film of Merit and the Best Actor award. “Still Human” has also been nominated in eight award categories at the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best New Performer and Best New Director. Congratulations to alumna Chan!
“Still Human” is written and directed by alumna Chan Siu-kuen.
 
 
“The Glass Menagerie” Directed by Alumnus Cheung Che-kwok is Well Received by the Public

Adapted from American playwright Tennessee Williams much acclaimed work, “The Glass Menagerie”, was staged at the Sunbeam Theatre, North Point, during the new year. With alumnus Cheung Che-kwok (Communication) as the Director and Dr. Chung King-fai as the Arts Advisor, the drama was attended by Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Mrs. Carrie Lam. President Prof. Roland Chin also attended to show support.

2019 Annual Dinner of Prior Global Asset Management Group Limited

On 16 January 2019, Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee, was invited by alumnus Edmund Au (Business Management), Managing Director of Prior Global Asset Management Group Limited, to attend his company’s annual dinner, on behalf of the University. The HKBU awardees of the “Prior Scholarship Fund for Outstanding BBA Students” and the “Prior Scholarship Fund for Outstanding Mainland Students” were also joined the dinner. In appreciation of the group’s support, representatives of the awardees took this opportunity to deliver a vote of thanks and gave a singing performance.

Alumnus Chang Chih-yuan is Awarded the Chief Executive’s Commendation for Government/Public Service

Alumnus Chang Chih-yuan (Chinese Medicine), currently the Air Crewman Officer III in the Government Flying Service, was awarded the Chief Executive's Commendation for Government/Public Service for his outstanding performance displayed in an offshore rescue mission during the passage of Super Typhoon Hato. Congratulations to alumnus Chang!

New Appointments of Alumni Jason Mok and Jane Mok

Alumnus Jason Mok (Chemistry), Vice-President of Hong Kong Baptist University Alumni Association (HKBUAA), was appointed as Honorary Member of the Court of HKBU with effect from 1 January 2019.

Alumna Jane Mok (Media Management), Honorary Secretary of HKBUAA, was appointed as Member of Board of Review (Inland Revenue Ordinance) of Inland Revenue Department with effect from 1 January 2019.

In Memory of Alumna Lam Tsz-ki

The University is deeply saddened by the passing away of alumna Lam Tsz-ki (Communication) on 11 February 2019.

Alumna Lam was highly respected for her contributions to the early childhood education and her passion in nurturing young children. The University community would like to convey our heartfelt condolences to alumna Lam’s family.
