HKBU Century Club Sponsors Young Scientist Challenge Cup 2016-17 to Nurture Talents
HKBU Century Club sponsored the annual competition "Young Scientist Challenge Cup 2016-17”organised by the Faculty of Science on 5 January. Alumna Esther Wong May-wai (Geography), Patron and Vice-President of the Club, attended the competition as Guest of Honour and presented prizes to the award winners.
Teams of students from different programmes presented their solutions to solve the problem entitled "What’s Next on Miniaturised Machines?” for a sustainable future and a better living environment for human beings. The panel of judges selected the winning team, which was based on their scientific knowledge, creativity and presentation skills.
The competition, which was held the sixth time, aimed to encourage students to put into practice their inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary science and technology knowledge. The competition also aimed to nurture their leadership and organisation skills, strengthen their team spirit and problem-solving abilities, enhance communication and presentation skills as well as inspire creativity. For contribution to the University’s betterment and sustainable growth, HKBU Century Club has organised the annual Century Club Sponsorship Scheme since 2008 in order to provide financial support for academic or student development projects.
