HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association - The Fifth Election Meeting for Chairman and Vice-Chairmen

The fifth election meeting for Chairman and Vice-Chairmen of HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association was held on 8 January 2014 at its office in Guangzhou with a participation of over 30 alumni and guests.

The Association was honoured to have the presence of HKBU Associate Vice-President Prof. Allan Chan as well as Prof. Lin Zhijun and Prof. Shi Yizheng of School of Business at the meeting. Chairman of the Association alumnus Luo Gang briefed members on the activities and projects held in the past years. Prof. Allan Chan acknowledged the Association’s contribution to the University and congratulated the newly elected as listed below:

New Year Celebration of Y’s Union

In celebration of the New Year, members of Y’s Union - the Alumni Association of the University YMCA (HKBU) organised a festive get-together on 5 January 2014. Members had a fabulous time sharing and mingling, which in turn helped strengthen their ties.

HKBU Economics Alumni Association AGM 2013

HKBU Economics Alumni Association held its Annual General Meeting on 18 December 2013. The Executive Committee members reviewed an array of activities organised in 2013 and discussed the plan to reinforce ties between the Association and fresh graduates.

Festival Gathering of HKBU Alumni Association of Australia

HKBU Alumni Association of Australia held a Christmas gathering in Sydney's Chinatown on 12 December 2013, which was well-attended by alumni and their families including Mr. Sidney Cheng, Mr. Chan Wing-yu, Mr. Cheng Yuen-tung, Mr. Wong Shu-fan, Mr. Ho Kwok-lung, Mr. and Mrs. Chu Hon-tin, Mr. Keith Chow, Ms. Turner Lai, Ms. Alice Lai, Mr. and Mrs. Lau Yeuk-shan. The Association also extended its warm welcome to School of Communication’s alumna Yip Lai-lin and her spouse, who joined the gathering for the first time. Although it was summer in Australia at the time of Christmas and New Year, which made the festive ambience very different from places in the Northern Hemisphere, the attending alumni and their relatives all had a heartwarming get-together.

The Civil Engineering Graduates Association Annual General Meeting cum Annual Dinner

The Civil Engineering Graduates Association held its Annual General Meeting cum Annual Dinner on 26 October 2013 at City View Hotel which was well-attended by 67 alumni and guests. The dinner was graced with the presence of a number of distinguished guests, including Ir Prof. Ko Jan-ming, Dr. S K Yan, Dr. Lau Sai-ling, Ir Lai Kuen-wai, alumnus Ir Siu Man-po, alumnus Ir So Wing-kin and alumnus Lee Kun-tin and his spouse from Toronto, Canada.

At the gathering, alumnus Lee Kun-tin was invited to share his valuable insight of organising various alumni programmes in Hong Kong and overseas. On the other hand, alumnus Ir So Wing-kin also shared with participants the latest development of the ex-Lee Wai Lee Campus site issue.

All attending alumni were delighted to reunite with their old friends and treasured the opportunity to recall their good old days at this annual get-together, as well as celebrating the recent achievements of the following 3 alumni:

  1. Ir Ma Koon-yiu published the book 「香港工程考」 (Chinese title only)

  2. Ir Chan Kar-lock was elected as Chairman of Civil Division of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers

  3. Ir So Wing-kin was conferred as Honorary University Fellows by HKBU in 2013

Participants treasure the annual reunion and appreciate the chance to recall their good old days together
