Dr. Ko Wing-man, 2018 recipient of HKBU’s Doctor of Social Sciences, had an in-depth and inspiring dialogue with HKBU community, students and the public at the Public Lecture entitled “A Dialogue with Dr. Ko Wing-man” organised by the Alumni Affairs Office on 27 November.
In his welcome remarks, Chairman of the Council and Court Mr. Cheng Yan-kee congratulated Dr. Ko on his conferment of the Honorary Doctorate Degree. He also expressed his appreciation to Dr. Ko for his significant contribution to the public health services and his unfailing support to the University, especially the development of the School of Chinese Medicine, where he served as Honorary Professor and Chairman of its Advisory Committee.
The audiences were impressed by the introductory video which captured some of the challenges Dr. Ko faced and tackled in his public health services journey. They actively raised questions to learn from Dr. Ko’s wisdom and experience in becoming an eminent leader in Hong Kong’s public health care sector. Moderated by the renowned cross-media veteran alumnus Lawrence Cheng, Dr. Ko shared his fascinating story of his career journey and encouraged the younger generation to try their best to achieve their goals.
The lecture attracted an impressive number of audience which includes educationists, HKBU senior management, alumni, staff and students of the University, and also students from a number of secondary schools who were all inspired by Dr. Ko’s insight.
