Alumni Achievements

Alumnus Philip Tsai, Professor Bernard Wu and Professor Nelson Lam Appointed by Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China as Accounting Consultation Specialist in Hong Kong Alumnus Philip Tsai (Accounting), Partner Emeritus of Deloitte China; alumnus Professor Bernard Wu (Accounting), Chairman of HKBU School of Business Alumni Association and Deputy Chairman of Poseidon Hill Capital Limited; and alumnus Professor Nelson Lam (Business Administration), Founder and Chairman of Nelson CPA Limited, together with 37 accounting experts in Hong Kong, were appointed by Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China as Accounting Consultation Specialist in Hong Kong for a term of five years. Upon appointment, they are designated to help make contributions to the collaboration between the accounting profession on the Mainland and in Hong Kong. The Appointment Ceremony was held on 3 August at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Congratulations to alumni Tsai, Prof Ng and Prof Lam! Alumnus Li Ching Led Hong Kong’s Table Tennis Women’s Team in Winning Bronze Medal at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Alumnus Li Ching (Sport & Leisure Management), coach of Hong Kong’s table tennis team, led his team to win a historic bronze medal in the women’s table tennis team event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on 5 August. Alumni Li also won a silver medal as a player in the table tennis men’s doubles at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, the first ever Olympic medal in table tennis for Hong Kong. Alumnus Samuel Lam Awarded the “Greater China Outstanding Entrepreneur Award 2021” and Invited to be Speaker at the Seminar on Cross-Border E-Commerce and Live Streaming in the Greater Bay Area Alumnus Samuel Lam (Business Administration), Chairman of X Social Group Holdings Limited, was presented the Greater China Outstanding Entrepreneur Award 2021 by the Hong Kong Commercial Daily at the award presentation ceremony held on 27 May. The award was given in recognition of the outstanding entrepreneurship and management skills demonstrated by alumnus Lam in leading the business development of his company across Greater China and the positive impact the company has brought to the region. As a guru of cross-border digital solutions, alumnus Lam was also invited by the Hong Kong Retail Management Association to be a speaker at its Retail Innovation Seminar: The Tips in Online Marketing on 24 June. During the seminar, he shared with the audience his knowledge, the market trends and useful tips on cross-border e-commerce and livestreaming in the Greater Bay Area.
