Alumnus Dr. Jacinto Tong Further Donates to Support Dr. Mok Man Hung Endowed Chair of Chemistry

In response to the imminent launch of the HKSAR Government’s Eighth Matching Grant Scheme, alumnus Dr. Jacinto Tong (Honorary University Fellow / Economics) has committed to make a further donation of HK$1.5 million in addition to his previous donation of HK$2 million for Dr. Mok Man Hung Endowed Chair of Chemistry.

The Endowed Chair is established to commemorate the late Dr. Mok, former Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary and Head of Chemistry Department, and to advance research development of the Department of Chemistry as well as the University through recruiting and retaining world-class scholars and financing innovative research projects. This Endowed Chair of Chemistry has been set up through collective fund-raising efforts of the alumni community and has already raised nearly HK$8 million.

Alumni and friends of HKBU are cordially invited to render support for this meaningful project. Your contribution will bring multiple benefits to the University with the matching from the upcoming HKSAR Government’s Eighth Matching Grant Scheme.

Alumna Esther Wong Donates to Establish an Endowed Scholarship for Department of History

Alumna Esther Wong (Geography/Social Work) recently committed to make a donation of HK$125,000 for the establishment of an endowed scholarship for Department of History in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Department. Esther especially takes this scholarship to reward students who have made great improvement in academic subjects.

The Annual Qinghai Service Learning Trip for Students of the School of Chinese Medicine

Alumnus Dr. Kevin Yue (Chinese Medicine), the Associate Director and Associate Professor of Teaching and Research Division of the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) of HKBU, organised the annual Qinghai service learning trip for 20 students of the School of Chinese Medicine from 1 to 11 July. The trip was sponsored by alumnus Wong Nga-chung (Honorary University Fellow/Business Management). Mr. Cheung Chun-hoi and Mr. Yiu Chun-kit from SCM also joined the trip as the clinical instructors. The scope of the trip included the provision of acupuncture treatments and rehabilitation services to young and adult orphans who suffer from cerebral palsy and seniors with degeneration of joint cartilage and the underlying bone. It was a fruitful trip as students honed their clinical as well as communication skills by providing acupuncture treatments and orthopedic manipulation therapies for the patients and communicating with them.

Alumnus Sunny Wong Delivers Lectures to Feng Chia University Students

Alumnus Sunny Wong (Business Administration) delivered lectures to a group of post graduate students from Feng Chia University (FCU) in the capacity of part-time Assistant Professor of FCU in early July in Hong Kong. Alumni Dickson Shang (Honorary University Fellow / Business Management) and Prof. James Tsien (Honorary University Fellow / Business Management) were also invited to deliver lectures to the group.
