Alumnus Francis Mak Cheers Students Up
On 8 July, alumnus Francis Mak (Chinese Language and Literature) held a “Cheer Up Party” for Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) students at Tsang Chan Sik Yue Auditorium on Baptist University Road Campus. The event was graced by the presence of HKSAR Chief Executive Mrs Carrie Lam and HKBU Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Dr. Albert Chau. During the event, Chief Executive Mrs. Carrie Lam encouraged the students to positively face their future no matter what the results of their DSE exam would be.
On the other hand, a graduation ceremony for primary and secondary students who have participated in the summer programmes organised by alumnus Mak under “Never Give Up Association” and “Never Give Up Junior” was held on 29 July. The event, which was also held at Tsang Chan Sik Yue Auditorium, was officiated by Principal Officials of the HKSAR Government including Chief Secretary for Administration Matthew Cheung Kin-chung and Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, as well as HKBU President Professor Roland Chin.
“Never Give Up Association” and “Never Give Up Junior” were founded by alumnus Mak in 2002 and 2012 respectively. More than three thousands of youngsters have participated in the programmes run by these two organisations over the past years.
