HKBU Department of Chemistry and Baptist Chemists Co-organise Shanghai Study Tour
Riding on the success of last year’s study tour, Prof. Chan Wing-hong, Prof. Ricky Wong Man-shing and Dr. Li Hung-wing of Department of Chemistry led a delegation comprising of 24 Chemistry and Analytical and Testing Sciences students to a study tour in Shanghai from 24 to 28 May 2015. Baptist Chemists was the sponsor of the study tour for two consecutive years. The tour provided students with a great opportunity to gain outside classroom experience, learn Chinese history, culture and technological development of modern China.
Apart from having campus visit and cultural exchange programme with teachers and students of Shanghai University, the delegation visited a number of famous scenic spots in Shanghai including Zhujiajiao Ancient Town where students conducted an on-site analysis on the sample collected from Huangpu River.
With the assistance of alumna Amy Tsang Woon-fun, Technical Director (Asia) of Alent Hong Kong Limited - Enthone, students were able to visit Enthone Shanghai Technical and Manufacturing Centre. High quality chemical additives were manufactured with fully automatic system which gave the students an eye-opening experience.
