Updates on HKBU Century Club

Results Announcement of Sponsorship Scheme 2013 and Alumna Delia Chan Donates to Support the Scheme

Dedicated to making continuous contribution to support the University’s sustainable development, Century Club has launched the Century Club Sponsorship Scheme (the Scheme) since 2008 to provide financial support to projects which contribute to the betterment and sustainable development of HKBU.

Riding on last year’s success, the Scheme this year received encouraging response from various Faculties, Deparments and Offices . Chaired by Alumna Marianna Tsang Wai-chun, the Club’s President and Patron, the judging panel decided to grant a total of HK$306,020 to support the following 11 academic and student development projects.

  1. Chaplain’s Office – Character Development Workshop
  2. Chaplain’s Office – Christian Leaders Training Camp
  3. Chaplain’s Office – Pick Up Services for Mainland Undergraduates
  4. General Education Office – General Education Outstanding Students Awards Scheme 2013-14
  5. Office of Student Affairs – Career Advisory Programme (CAP) 2013-14
  6. Office of Student Affairs – Freshman Experience Programme (FEP) through Lead-Serve Communities (LSC)
  7. Department of Geography – An International Conference on “Social Justice and the City”
  8. Department of Marketing – Young Marketers for Social Enterprise 2014 (YMSE)
  9. Faculty of Science – Young Scientist Challenge Cup
  10. Faculty of Science – Whole Person Development Programme for Science Elites
  11. Department of Journalism - Environmental Journalism : HKBU, Hong Kong and the International Community

The Century Club hopes that all funded projects will have fruitful results in promoting academic excellence and student development, making contributions to the community and strengthening the goodwill of HKBU.

In addition, the Club is pleased to receive another generous donation of HK$100,000 on-the-spot from Patron Ms. Delia Chan Wai-sheung to support the Scheme.

The Club’s President was Invited to Participate in Activities on the “HKTDC Entrepreneur Day”

Apart from giving financial support to the University, Century Club endeavors to promote the goodwill of the Club and HKBU among the community. Invited by the Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises Association, President Marianna Tsang attended its press conference on 24 May 2013 as one of the officiating guests to announce details of the Association’s participation on “Hong Kong Trade Development Council Entrepreneur Day 2013”. She also delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Association’s scheme titled “創業有我心.大家齊關心” on 31 May 2013.
