School of Communication Alumni Receive Multiple Awards at The Hong Kong Film Awards
School of Communication alumni shined at The 38th Hong Kong Film Awards held on 14 April. Academy of Film (AF) alumnus Felix Chong, one of the 6th Distinguished Alumni Award recipients, won the Best Director and Best Screenplay for Project Gutenberg. School of Communication alumnus Eric Lam also won the Best Art Direction for the same film. With an impressive 17 nominations, the film also scooped four awards in other categories, including the Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing and Best Costume & Make Up Design.
Another AF alumna, Oliver Chan Siu-Kuen won the Best New Director for Still Human. Written and directed by alumna Chan, the film also won the Best Actor and Best New Performer awards.

MBA Zhuhai Class of 2017 Establishes Endowment Fund to Benefit HKBU Students
The MBA Zhuhai class of 2017 have recently made a donation of HK$136,666 to establish an endowment fund as a class gift to the alma mater. Mr. Wu Jun, representative of the Class, presented a donation cheque to the University at the MBA High Table Dinner on 16 March, witnessed by around 100 MBA students from Shenzhen and Zhuhai.
The donation was facilitated by the former President of HKBU Alumni Association alumnus Tyrone Siu (History) and current President alumnus Alex Leung (Business Administration). The endowment fund aims to establish a scholarship to award an outstanding student annually.
At the high table dinner, Chairman of HKBU MBA (China) Alumni Association alumnus Zhao Yongshuang delivered a speech, in which he shared his career development since graduating from MBA fifteen years ago. A candle lighting ceremony was also conducted to symbolize the passing of the University’s motto to the next generation. |

HKBU Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Annual Gathering 2019
Over 30 DBA students, alumni, faculty and friends reunited on 23 February at the Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel at the DBA Annual Gathering. As a DBA alumna, Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee also joined the event to connect with other guests. Participants all treasured the happy moments and had an enjoyable time. |

Alumni Billy Leung, Tony Dong and Mabel Dong from Northern California Visit HKBU
On 6 March, alumnus Billy Leung (Chinese Language & Literature) travelled all the way from Cupertino of California, USA to Hong Kong and returned to his alma mater with his wife for a campus visit. They were delighted to learn the development of the University over the years and looked forward to the next gathering on campus with his buddies soon.
Alumni couple Tony Dong (Business Management) and Mabel Dong (Music) from San Ramon of California, USA also visited their alma mater on 2 April. During the campus tour, they were excited to see the various new developments of the University comparing with their visit several years ago. Being the key members of the HKBU Northern California Alumni Network, Tony and Mabel will continue to line up more alumni residing in Northern California and keep their connection with the alma mater. |

Alumnus Dr. Gordon Tsui Meets With Alumni in Australia
On behalf of the Alumni Committee of HKBU Foundation, alumnus Dr. Gordon Tsui (Economics) visited the alumni residing in Sydney, Australia during his recent trip. President of HKBU Alumni Association of Australia alumnus Sidney Cheng (Communication), Vice-President Lawrence Chan (Communication) and alumna Henie Tsang (Communication/ Secretarial Management) expressed warmest welcome to Dr. Tsui at a lunch held on 8 March. The lunch was joyful as they updated each other on the recent happenings of the alumni in their regions. |
