Recent Activities of HKBU Alumni Association of Australia

In celebration of the 63rd anniversary of HKBU, HKBU Alumni Association of Australia held a luncheon at Zilver Restaurant in Hay Market, Sydney on 13 March 2019, which was attended by President of the Association alumnus Sidney Cheng, Vice-President alumnus Lawrence Chan, members alumni Henie Tsang, Peter Chu, Jennifer Chan and their families. The event was also graced by the presence of guests including Edward Fung, former Head of Department of History of HKBU and his spouse, Roni Trieu; Linda Tang, former President of the Hong Kong University Alumni Association NSW Chapter Australia Inc. and its members George Wong, Pauline Wong, Lily Mo and Terence Lam; Mr. Steve Lam, former President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Alumni Association Australia and its members PH Fung and Steven Lee; and Mr. David Lam, President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Australia Association) and its Honorary President Bosco Lau and members Karen Tam and Vincent Yu.

The Association also held a lunch gathering on 3 April 2019 at The Eight in Hay Market, Sydney, at which alumni Sidney Cheng and his spouse, Lawrence Chan, Peter Chu, Clara Cheng, Henie Tsang, Richard Lam and his spouse Mabel Lam, Leung Ting-chun and his spouse Chan Bun-yee, Bosco Lau, Lillian Tan and guests Edward Fung, former Head of Department of History of HKBU and his spouse and Irene Lee attended to share the joy of reunion.

HKBU Alumni Association of Australia would like to invite alumni, retired and former academic and administrative staff of the University, who are now residing in Australia to join the Association. Department of Chinese Language and Literature Holds Alumni and Mentor-mentee Gathering 2019

Department of Chinese Language and Literature held an Alumni and Mentor-mentee Gathering on HKBU campus jointly with the Alumni Association of Department of Chinese Language and Literature on 15 March. The event was well attended by over 100 alumni, students and academic staff. The Poon Choi dinner offered a good opportunity for participants to reunite and catch up with each other.

Prof. Lo Ming-tung, Head of Department of Chinese Language and Literature, expressed in his speech that he was happy to meet with so many alumni and touched by their tremendous support to the alma mater. Alumnus Sidney Lui, Chairman of the Alumni Association, also took the opportunity to share the recent development of the Alumni Association. Four sharing sessions conducted by alumni Leung Ka-kuen, Shum Wai-chung, Gee Get-kui and Lo Kwok-hung were also held during the gathering.

HKBU School of Business Alumni Association Organises Blockchain Information Sharing Session

On 2 April, HKBU School of Business Alumni Association (SBAA) organised the Blockchain Information Sharing Session with over 40 alumni, students and guests attended. Dr. Cheng Yuk-shing, Head of Department of Economics came to show his support. Mr. Yuen Wong, Managing Partner of L.A.B.S. Property and Mr. Galen Law-Kun, Associate, FinTech & Crypto of PricewaterhouseCoopers were invited as speakers to give participants an overview on the technical market of blockchain, the associated risks and some blockchain practical cases. Attendees were keen on asking questions and learned a lot from the insightful sharing of the speakers.
