The First-Generation University Student Fund was launched in 2017 to support local first-generation undergraduate students to explore the wider world through outside-of-classroom activities such as overseas exchanges, internships, and study and service programmes. Over the past two years, the Fund has received a lot of support from the alumni community, especially through the Alumni Tree Naming Campaign which raised over HK$1.6 million to the Fund.
On 15 March, a dinner gathering with alumni supporters and beneficiary students of the Fund was held on HKBU Campus. Attending guests included President Roland Chin, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) and Chairman of the Fund’s Steering Committee Dr. Albert Chau and Director of Alumni Affairs Dr. Melanie Lee.
At the gathering, students shared their fruitful exchange and internship experiences and expressed their sincere gratitude to all supporters for their generous support which allowed them to change their lives. Alumni supporters also encouraged the students to treasure every opportunity to learn more and strive for excellence.
