Alumnus Lo Ting-wai Clinches Outstanding Home Coach Award

At the Annual Coaches Awards Presentation Ceremony organized by Hong Kong, China Rowing Association (HKCRA) held on 4 March, alumnus Lo Ting-wai (Sport & Recreation Leadership) was presented with the “Outstanding Home Coach” award.

Alumnus Lo is currently one of the head coaches in HKBU Rowing Team and a coach in HKCRA. He was the representative of Hong Kong Team having competed in many international tournaments including the 15th Asian Games and the 28th Summer Olympic Games. In the East Asian Games 2009, he won the 1st runner up and 2nd runner up in Lightweight Men's Quad and Coxless Four events.

Alumna Dr. Elaine Chan Launches New Book

Alumna Dr. Elaine Chan (Communication) has recently published a book entitled 《遇上黑色電影:香港電影的逆向思維》and a book launch was held on 22 March. HKBU Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Dr. Albert Chau and alumnus Dr. William Leung (Honorary University Fellow; English Language & Literature) also attended the event to show support to alumna Dr. Chan.

This book is the first monograph on Hong Kong dark cinema in the world, and is nominated by the publisher to compete for the Hong Kong Book Prize 2018. It is a translation of the original work in English which will be published in the U.S. and U.K. and distributed worldwide next year.

Alumna Nancy Li Holds Concert to Showcase Students’ Talents

On 11 February, alumna Nancy Li (Music) held a concert and performed with members of her Nancy Strings Orchestra and Nancy Choir. Alumna Li is devoted to develop the music talents of the youngsters and the concert offered a platform for her students to showcase the results of their hard work.

In Memory of Alumnus Chiu Wing-kwong

The University is deeply saddened by the passing of alumnus Chiu Wing-kwong (Civil Engineering) on 31 March 2018.

The late alumnus Chiu was a member of Century Club and very supportive to the University. The University conveys heartfelt condolences to his family.
