HKBU Century Club Sponsors Young Scientist Challenge Cup 2015-16

The Young Scientist Challenge Cup 2015-16, one of the sponsored projects of HKBU Century Club Sponsorship Scheme 2015, was successfully organised by the Faculty of Science on 7 January. Vice-President and Patron of the Club alumna Agnes Wong Lai-chun was the Guest of Honour.

This year, the theme of the competition was “Beyond Science: How to scientifically realize ideas in scientific fictions?” Undergraduate students from different programmes were divided into small groups of 3 to 5 to discuss and identify the idea of a scientific novel that would likely be realized in the future for potential applications. Their performances were assessed by a panel of judges based on scientific merits, novel approaches and presentation skills.

Running in its fifth year, the competition aims to encourage students to put into practice their inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary science and technology knowledge so as to nurture their leadership and organisation skills, strengthen team spirit and problem-solving abilities, enhance communication and presentation skills, as well as inspire creativity.

With an aim of rendering continuous contribution to the University’s betterment and sustainable development, HKBU Century Club launched the Century Club Sponsorship Scheme in 2008 to provide financial support to academic and student development projects.
